WestHamCanadianinOxford
European football of that era is a huge area of ignorance for me (Spanish football still is), I can barely remember him in Milan as it was pretty easy follow Serie A at the time. SthMelbRed
Redondo was a lovely footballer and a key member of the pre-Galactico Real Madrid team that re-established the club's brand as THE European Cup specialists. If I recall correctly, he was one of the players who were jettisoned by Florentino Perez in order to implement his policy of buying superstars every season rather than following a coherent team building program. Pottsy3
Fernando Redondo sounds like a guy who panicked while creating a fake alias. Macksam
BrennanFan
I'll always remember Redondo over the controversy about his hair. The Argentina coach in the 90s, Passarella, refused to call Redondo in unless he cut his hair. Redondo stuck to his principles, that his hair had nothing to do with football, and so he missed World Cup 98. Argentina had a hell of a team that year, and could've gone all the way with Redondo. I don't think people remember him because he was a Holding Mid so guys like Seedorf, Raul and Morientes come to mind but not so much him, but I think he was the best of the bunch for what it's worth. 7 hours ago, narduch said: As a fat guy, I miss those type of jerseys. There's a charm about the late 90s/early 2000s bagginess. narduch

It's alright bro. To your defense, Redondo was a deep lying mid like Davids.

Macksam
Probably his most famous moment embarrassing Paul Scholes. Edit: I realize now it was not Scholes but another player. https://youtu.be/O-7CECdXum4 Edited August 17, 2021 by Macksam
JohnnyFranchise
the move that he pulled off against man utd in 2000 was a thing of beauty and one of the best single plays i've ever seen Macksam

He had quite the footwork for a defensive mid. JohnnyFranchise

Is that true? Because he ended up ironically cutting his hair shortly after anyhow.

Redondo backed the president at the time Lorenzo Sanz and paid the price when Florentino Perez got elected following their 2000 UCL victory.
