I don't about about Arfield but at 38/39 Hutch is an upgrade for how long? A game every window, a half every second game.

Hutch was a key player in Besiktas season where they won the Turkish league.  He regularly went 90 minutes and contributed on both ends of the pitch.  He may not play all of every game but we need to dispel this idea that he isn’t still a top player for us.  He is.

Will that be the case next year?  Or the year after?  No idea.  But based on the most recent season, Atiba absolutely still performs at a high level.

At the end of day, our beloved Canadian team is a better squad with Arfield in the 23. This WQC will NOT be a cake walk. Costco Rica is going to add more weapons, the USA will bring their full squad, Jamaica has holes and they’re all over the place but they are super talented and GOD knows who they are gonna call up. Do you think Mexico is not gonna come in wanting show they are still top dogs ?  We are gonna see CONCACAF best. We need our best ! Arfield and Hutch are upgrades and we will see them.

Did just the soccer team get a sponsor or did the whole country get rebranded? :D

I'd take Arfield beside Eustaquio over Piette or Osorio or Kaye, any day. Sure, he'd have to perform at his best, but for example: Kaye at his very best is not as good. Osorio has moments that are of a high level, and more flash, but not always full 90s. Piette, competent, but pretty clear he's not as good. Liam Fraser is not in the discussion.

A midfield with Eustaquio, Arfield and Osorio, plus minutes from Hutch, starting or finishing. Or Davies also starting in the middle behind Larin and David. That is talent and raises your quality immensely.

Arfield has no problem to be holding or going forwards or playing on one or the other side of the midfield. He's versatile, has pace. Sure, playing all those "minnows" in Scotland does not keep Rangers as sharp as they should be. But it is a liability they share with plenty of other teams in Europe who get knocked out of early rounds of Champions or Europa League (this elimination, I admit, looks pretty bad, conceeding playing vs. 10 men, but I did not watch so couldn't say what happened).

Here's what I like about the Eustaquio-Arfield-Osorio trio...

In Osorio, you have someone who's very ball secure. He's also great in tight space. He's basically the glue guy of that midfield. Now in Kaye you have someone who's less ball secure, but he's got a knack for killer balls, so without him we lose some attacking impetus.

But with Arfield you have a guy who is ball secure with attacking instincts, so he fills the Kaye roll, but does it in a different way. With Scotty it is less about playing through balls and more about being very intelligent with his movement and combining with other players.

Furthermore, he's competent at taking free kicks.

That may be the best combination in midfield, with Hutchinson coming on to close out games.

Watching the highlights again of that winning Mexican goal, we definitely needed his positioning and reading of the play to nullify that threat instead of mids just running around and chasing, one of whom was camped on the six yard box alongside the too deep back line really marking no one while the real danger was at the top of the box where another Mexican along with the goal scorer were both wide open.

not at all. you don't get to pick and choose when it is convenient for you. Hoilett has been committed and voiced his displeasure w Arfield, he's been a leader for the team. Bringing in Arfield would have clearly caused disfunction among some key players.

Not sure I agree.  If it was a decision to stick with the group that got us this far, the thinking may be that it would be more harmful than beneficial to bring Scott in at this point.  If he would have a negative impact on team cohesion (which is clearly a factor in our success so far) than it makes sense.  And in the context of Junior’s 🧢 comment, that seems like it may be a reasonable scenario.

Dude it's not about talent, it's about team cohesion. Clearly numerous guys on the team don't like Arfield because of what he has done said the past two years. If there were 100 pplayers called up he wouldn't be there.

Obviously Arfield is better than Fraser, but that decision wasn't made based on talent.
