Cristian Gutierrez too! Also Corbeanu, who I'm a bit puzzled by given that he has been in Wolves first team - I feel he may opt out. Otherwise why would Millar not be there as well?

I think we're all expecting a loan for Liam in January meaning he won't be able to attend this camp

Merry Christmas Canadian Soccer fans. Marcelo Flores, Ayo Akinola, Cristian Gutierrez and Theo Corbeanu. Over the moon right now

edit: Even if these are just training matches, wouldn’t players like Marcelo and Ayo still be locked down as they would have to file their 1 time switch? They surely just can’t get up and join other countries camps after playing for other Countries in major competitions,  no?

Akinola was somewhat expected but I didn’t expect Flores to be called let alone accept. Im surprised Guti is showing but hopefully we get him to commit would help our LB depth.

unreal, the power of Davies and David...

Glad Priso got the call he’s going to have a nice long future with the team.

Wow! This is better than expected in that so many new guys are included. Akinola will get a first hand look at our setup and will get some evidence on which to base his eventual decision. Great to see him included! Gutierrez is a fine surprise as is Flores. Good to see Halbouni, St Clair, Buchanon, and another look at Bassong.  Bustos gets his chance after the Chile rumours, and Sturring gets a look.  It is on them to impress the powers that be.  This is a fabulous roster. Hats off to Herdman assuming that he has recently spoken to all of these players. My only complaint is that Mo Farsi is not included. Cheers!

So:

wheeler on Twitter, Corbeanu and Sturing have filed their switches and been approved.

Akinola and Flores are at camp for the sake of shopping, but finally getting Akinola is in huge and getting Flores to comeback is huge.

my own thought...

Mexico must be shitting their pants right now, 3 big prospects going to other camps.

long term Flores is a huge get for whomever gets him, he will likely be in the Arsenal first team in 2 years from what I’ve seen about him.

good news is his a Toronto area boy.... also with him going making Dias from sporting decides to give Canada another go down the line ?

While I understand that many of these guys are not done deals, whatever John Herdman is selling (be it snake oil or otherwise), these kids are interested. It's possible that other managers would get these same names into camp, we'll never know, but I think he is recruiting better than anyone expected.

I made this comment before but whatever your views on him as a head coach, he appears to be a great general manager.

After the last big “reveal” I am not putting any currency whatsoever into Wheeler’s scoops.

Sturing isn’t ever going to crack the Netherlands squad so I’m not worried about that. Is Romania really any good ?

let’s be real here look at the 03 talent out of Ontario.... Flores is expected to be pretty decent and Dias at Sporting ain’t too shabby at all.

Hats off to TFC doing something right at the youth level.

also Glasscityfc said on Twitter Hasal was called but still injured.

Agreed with the bolded! Why because he's a great talker...the jury is out on his coaching tactics.

However, it's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison considering that we haven't had players who sell the program itself in Davies, and David specifically. So I think its also a product of his environment that he's managing well.

Akinola with the heel turn! Good to see him so soon after playing for the US, great sign imo. Also I’m a bit shocked to see Flores so soon, I know he’s not locked in yet but it’s obviously encouraging he’s there as well.

I’m hoping Millar’s absence means that a loan is about to happen!
