Three of Blackpool's five shots have come from Theo. Half isn't even over.

He's also probably responsible for 90% of their step-overs.

It was a nice finish. He was the third man on a counter. He collected a rebound off the post from his teammate and calmly put it in.

The hyperbole on Twitter is always classic. “He’s scored on an empty net!! Should this mean he gets called to Qatar?!”

Agreed but since Blackpool aren't playing during the international break, might as well join the squad in Austria.

100% - he should be called in September and let’s see how he does. Just having a laugh at the Qatar calls based on this. We have an embarrassment of riches at his position.

We’re going to be calling 3 maybe 4 players more than we ever did during wcq. Roster size is 26. Its not laughable that he gets one of those additional spots based on his recent form.

Guess the trick is don't play him at WB? lol

We have come fill circle.

That said hopefully all those experiences have added to his game. The upcoming friendlies see like such a great chance to see Corbeanu, Mitrovic and Koleosho amongst others. It would go against the grain for Herdman though to call too many. He likes to stick to his guys.

You can say that his goal here was scoring on an empty net or whatever, and there has been criticism of the he's scored this season because they come as a result of him being in the right place right time, but the reality is that he now leads Blackpool in goals (3 vs. 2 others with 2 but wtv), and at a certain point, "lucky" goals stop being lucky if you keep scoring them. I've watched a bit of Blackpool this year, and first off, they're not a good team at all, but he's always in position to make something exciting happen and he's one of the best players on a Championship side at age 20. Another way to look at it is that between his goal today and his last minute equalizer a few games back, without his finishing, that's 4 less points for Blackpool, the difference between 11th and 18th place. Twitter hyperbole and exaggeration will always happen with our players, but hard to argue he isn't one of our most inform players right now.

No doubt, he deserves a look in September. But club form alone isn’t going to get him in the World Cup squad ... he needs to impress this window.

I think Theo is a top 3 Canadian in terms of potential. Reality in 2022 is that even Liam Millar can’t find time in this squad. Theo, sadly, doesn’t fit the current system and it’s the reason he hasn’t been called in over a year.

I think Liam is still in discussion but his lack of end product and Basel's poor form in the league aren't helping his case.

Up until today our strikers were not scoring other than David. Larin still looking for his 1st, Tajon is injured, Liam is not scoring, Jnr playing as a WB. No manager is going to say no to a forward who is scoring in a decent league and Theo is red hot. I'm sure he gets called this month. 2 or 3 spots are going to young players, which they need to blood for 2026 even if they  don't see the field.

How many matchdays until the international window starts? 4?

Unless he gets dropped from Blackpool entirely from now til then, he's probably done enough to warrant a look against Qatar and Uruguay. I would be very surprised not to see him come in.

Would be a great storyline for Theo to get a recall, just in time to welcome long-time friend Stefan Mitrovic into the fold :)
