This was announced last year during the U17WC, where (from what I saw) he appeared to be the best player on the team and people were wondering why he was not on the radar of one of the MLS teams.  Someone (Ottawafan???) posted he had a contract lined up in Belgium when he turned 18.

David is an extremely exciting prospect. Think of him as a Suarez model of striker: suprisingly mobile, quick, but strong and excellent with the ball at his feet for your typical centre forward.. and that’s the problem - he is so good with the ball that it is tempting to move him to the wings, but his nose for goal means you want him in the box. If he can bulk up and proove he can joistle with grown centre halves then that’s when you’ll see people take notice - and is what we need to wait for before throwing too much expectations his way . Fingers crossed he can. Luckily Gent is the perfect place to help him do it.

Isn't he the guy who out shone Davies at a point ?

In limited viewings, I really liked what I have seen of David.  But outshining Davies may be pushing it (so far).  Would be nice to see them pushing each other in the future though!

David is playing with the U21/Reserves in the Belgian Reserve league. Looks like there are no reports for the first 2 matches of this half-season that started Jan. 22nd, the day before David signed. Gent beat Genk 2-4 away (he would not have played anyways) and lost to Anderlecht 1-3 at home on the 29th (might have played). The reports for the last 3 matches are below:

Scored the equalizer and assisted on the winner in a 1-2 victory at Brugges on Feb. 5th

On the 12th he scored 2 goals in a 4-4 draw at home to Standard Liege.

Went 90 in a 2-1 loss at Oostende last Monday 19th.
