  1. This convesation went as follows You: Victoria is a meh media market Me: It is part of the 3rd largest in the country You: NO Me: Yea it's dumb but industry sees it that way You: That doesn't count Me: It's what most organization look at. It's dumb but it's a thing You: NO. FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE TRUMPS ANY MEDIA RESEARCH FIRM Like **** you're just attacking for the sake of attacking rather than just acknowledging that that fact exists. I've worked in this section and nationally and internationally they are looked at as a single market when discussing TV and radio. They 100% did their homework and it is something they are aware of.
  2. dmas are also used for advertising which is a massive part of sport. at this point I actually just think you're trying to find any excuse to be a big man like you do often. do you actually think the cpl and mediapro are not looking at markets and considering that?
  3. I'm counting that as part of it similar to pregame ceremony.
  4. different degrees of fans. for some, i see no real issue with casual fans being late but do see an issue with adjusting start times. movies don't do it
  5. **** didn't know awesome
  6. Edited cause I'm an idiot
  7. yea no. the source on that is think tv, a toronto based research firm who are considered a canadian version of nielsen in many regards. again the definition is stupid (same for hamilton being included with toronto) but it is the industry view.
  8. dude you're acting like i'm hiding the discount which my opening post fully acknowledged. i pointed it out because we compared a home opener to a standard game (which isn't exactly like with like)
  9. WHAT? it's pretty redneck
  10. true but that really doesn't change it was the #1 attended game.
  11. yes and their weekday game beat all cpl games this week. i know they had deals for tix, but that still counts lol
  12. also issey who has been a sub for them so far this year. none of the massive signings they made have panned out how anyone thought they would so far
  13. There have been a few things I've been like this move does not make sense, kinda 50/50 on including this one Agree on at least a double header for Saturday
  14. @Ansem just regarding cost, in the case of OneSoccer, I do think time was more of a factor. Like you said get what you pay for and a rush job would likely have sucked, from what I've heard MediaPro largely took over the original CPL plan late in the game. They have the funds but did not have reasonable time. I do think going into the season without even an official French blog was stupid (again 20% of the country) and somewhat harmful to the image.
  15. They're going into France with CPL next year, so it's happening with or without Laval (unless they opted not to show it in Canada in French for some stupid reason)
  16. i saw the instagram story about the game, and thought it would be lower. glad my thought was wrong
  17. i don't think so. hernandez and legault aside, those guys had a combined 150~ professional appearances in usl under their belts. the rule was at least partly designed for the guys coming in from l1o and usports rather than them, so i see them as an exception. i think only one other team is over 500 minutes at the moment while some are still well under 200.
  18. what? http://canmediasales.com/canada-101/canadian-media-stats/ we can argue if what is a market makes sense or is practica lor not (i think we'd agree, see me saying hamilton as part of toronto is dumb) but what defined as the market is largely set. it having blah media of its own does not erase that it is part of the 3rd largest media market. i don't know why you are acting liking it does. I'm not arguing the quality, I'm saying it is factually a part of something.
  19. Hamilton is considered part of the Toronto-Hamilton market http://canmediasales.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/TV-Basics-2016-17.pdf http://radiostationworld.com/locations/canada/ontario/radio_broadcasting/ It's stupid but it's true Not sure what you're addressing here but yea the deal is betting on where it goes, I do disagree with your end statement solely based on the lack of French options, that can be criticized, but it is a work in progress.
  20. that's true but it is useful for attracting larger advertisers to the league. same goes for york (and hamilton, as its part of the same market), they're useful places to be. i think being in those markets is part of why the mediapro deal was as large as it was
  21. i think the n.a. trend of giving coaches time continues with cpl don't see any sacking until after next season unless a team has a 7 game losing streak
  22. victoria is part of the 3rd largest media market in the country
  23. mediapro is handling the onesoccer app and they are a multi-billion dollar organization that is actively planning a french broadcast for next year when they go into france. the letter seems more "wtf seriously?" than anything because they're already in quebec. i think the combo of not having it yet but also knowing they're doing it because of a somewhere else getting it in the future would piss anyone off also i do disagree with the end, if you have an issue with the league you have ever right to voice it and the french language thing valid and it is kind of stupid that it's the case as a fifth of the nation speaks it as their mother tongue and it's in the dark
