Blackburn have been promoted to the Championship with two games left.

It seems like Leutwiler is still riding the pine; 2nd behind Raya. I hope they give him those last two games of the season at least.

Happy 29th Birthday to Jayson!

Great news. I came here expecting to hear that he got released. If he can get a chance to win the spot with the team in the Championship, that would be great for us.

It’s gonna be hard for him to win the starting job, David Raya, the number one, has made the league one team of the year. I think I can safely assume that they are pleased with him and are not looking to replace him.

I haven't checked all regular season Championship games but it seems Leutwiler has been glued to the bench.

Last year he played some cup games but this year David Raya played all 3 of their League Cup games too.

Yeah but he's still 1 injury away from playing in the Championship.

...and after all 3 subs were made, on Saturday, David Raya received a serious facial injury in the 82nd minute.

The original reports were somewhat gruesome:

It is less serious than originally thought:

Raya will spend some time with family in Spain, before returning to England to see a specialist.

Blackburn host QPR this weekend. Leutwiler better be starting!

I know we have several QPR fans on this board. Let us know what happens if you watch the game.

With Blackburn's #1 keeper picking up a bad injury this week Jayson is set for his 1st start as QPR visit tomorrow, I'll be watching the match and will post my views on his performance!

Good.

Looks like he will play:

This is Leutwiler’s chance, I look forward to watching him vs Queens Park Rangers tomorrow!

Should he do well, the coach may give him more starts while David Raya recovers, and maybe a recall for the MNT

In the off-season a few clubs could be vying for him also where he gets playing time regularly

So this opportunity is more than just a game

This sentence is also interesting:

"Jayson has been on standby in the last few international breaks so it’s been a while since he has played."

It seems like he is clearly still on Herdman's radar despite not getting the call for the last two games.

Leutwiler had very little to do, kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win, he had to rise high to collect a free kick in the 1st half, came off his line really well to deal with a ball played down the wing in the second half, his collection and distribution were good but it was a small sample size as unfortunately my Rangers never really tested him in horrific conditions! https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45999808

Blackburn vs. QPR. 5 years ago that's an EPL tilt, today it's League One. Brutal.

Championship! This was a piss poor match, it was played in a torrential downpour at times with strong winds and a card happy ref who gave away a terrible penalty late on!

Oh, i thought Leutweiler had dropped down to League One to join Blackburn?

edit: they promoted back up this year. ok, good.

Other way around, he moved up from League One (when he was with Shrewsbury) to the Championship.

I think he's #2 even if he isn't playing (I hope he does). He's a Championship back up, which is better than anything we've got at the moment. Who's number 2 if it's not Leutwiler?

Crepeau or Thomas.  I’m with you, with it all on the line i’d want Leutwiler as #2.  He’s massive and has more experience and has played at a higher level than the other two.

Jonathan Viscosi, playing regularly in the Finish top league for TPS (Turun Palloseura), wants to play for Canada but not getting a sniff from the CSA (27 years old).

I’ve lived in Finland for a few years now.. the Finnish top flight is very poor, other than HJK which is the dominant team in the Finnish league. The league is about equivalent to the Irish top flight, likely worse.

Yup, the level is pretty poor. However, he's one of the few options that actually plays. I mean now you got Thomas, but there was a moment where he wasn't playing and then it's Crepeau and blank. And Norway D2 isn't that great either.

Anyway I hope he'll another shot in D1 with another team.
