  1. Wasn't there a FK that was going to the top corner that Crepeau did well to tip over the goal?
  2. I haven't seen another angle but the play you are talking about in the Van-MTL game doesn't look like a gaffe from Crepeau. St-Clair was clearly at fault.
  3. There's no one near him, why did he punched that? Easy ball to catch IMHO. Nice finish by David.
  4. I initially liked RS post about Larin acceleration but I then took it off after reading UT. RS, I'll like your post only if you edit it to add some sort of mention about the weak opposition. Also comparing the defending with the Uruguayan league defending would be appreciated. Thanks
  5. RIP Tony. Thanks for everything you've done for soccer in this country.
  6. Unless Jadon's mother is Canadian, I don't see the connection with Canada since his father is dutch.
  7. Can we play the Faroe Islands twice in a neutral site in Europe in March (with a Euro base squad) while playing Antigua and Barbuda twice in Canada (with a NA base squad) at the same time?
  8. Excuse my ignorance, as I haven't been here that much lately, but who that would be?
  9. Speaking of disappearance, I noticed that jpg75 hasn't posted here in while.
  10. So the US want to lose that game because they want ES in the Hex but ES want to lose as well because they know they don't stand a chance in the Hex. When we have a scenario like that, we need to remember that "only in CONCACAF" 1994 Barbados-Grenada game: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbados_4–2_Grenada_(1994_Caribbean_Cup_qualification)
  11. He is close to the ball when the ball is crossed. It's a matter of a fraction of a second. I think his body shape could've been better and he could've made himself bigger whne he came out (that's where I agree with Conway). I agree that he is a bit erratic at times but from what I've seen from Crépeau so far, I think Borjan is still a good step ahead. Of course, like I said, a solid club season for Crépeau could change the whole goalkeeping picture.
  12. That wasn't a horrific goal and I think people here are very tough on Milan for that goal. I don't think the decision to come out is a bad one since the US player would've been all alone with all the time to move toward the goal with no pressure and time to make a pass in front of the goal. He also almost blocked the the cross, so to blame him for that goal is IMHO a bit harsh. He had to react in a second to a defensive mistake and it almost worked, so not sure he deserves much of the blame here. Regarding Max, yes friendlies are nice but a solid club situation is better to assess a keeper IMO. If Vancouver are challenging for a playoff spot and Max is still the starter and doing well, he might be able to make a case for a starting spot with Canada but for that you'll need to see a drop in Borjan's form. BTW, not sure why we are talking about succession when our starting keeper is 32 years old which is still young for a keeper. So, unless we have a better option (someone performing better at a similar level), which I don't think we have at the moment, I think we'll continue to see Borjan as our starter.
  13. First, what's the "horrific" goal Borjan gave away against the US? Second, concerning Max, as a MNT fan I would find it more comforting if he could prove himself with a decent team where he isn't facing 25 shots per game. I think he's really good but I think playing for a poor team in front of a very average defense isn't helping his case since he has very little pressure. That's clearly not his fault and he has done his job but on a MNT perspective, I would like to see him playing well in a more challenging club situation before I'm ready to say that he's good enough to take Borjan place.
  14. Maybe they are just using those friendlies to see whether they are competitive enough for the Hex? Getting some results would give them confidence and loosing all 4 games could send them in the 7-35 path which is better than finishing last in the Hex.
  15. Agree. I don't remember a save Steffen made that a keeper of Guzan quality wouldn't make.
  16. I could see him becoming an assistant to Stephen Hart in Halifax....
  17. JH and the players can talk about culture and identity all they want but some of us, fans, want to see it on the field. So far, we only had one true test and we failed badly against Haiti. I'm not saying JH isn't operating changes that will help in the future but that so far it's just talk and that I'm still skeptical since I haven't seen anything that leads me to believe it's working.
  18. I think you can add quite a few players to that 2008 team. JDG, Friend and DeRo also criticized Dale Mitchell before a crucial WCQ in San Pedro Sula.
  19. The post you quoted was written a few hours after we won against Mexico....
  20. Not sure why, but 3 Europeans teams are part of the tournament. It looks like this was done to have a more balance competition and TBH I don't care too much since it's U15 and it's not a qualifying tournament for a youth WC. But the prospect of seeing a headline like this "Slovenia, 2019 Concacaf U15 champions" is a little bit weird...
  21. Slovenia and Portugal are part of the D1 tournament. Israel are part of the D2 tournament. https://www.concacaf.com/en/under-15s-men/article/groups-and-schedule-confirmed-for-the-2019-concacaf-boys-under-15-championship
  22. We tied Austria and Iran in 2013 (last time we qualified). In 2011, we tied England and Rwanda (a win against Rwanda would've seen us through to the 1/16 round).
  23. It's always difficult to judge the quality of U17 teams but if this was the real WC, I would be pretty happy with this group. I would expect us to be able to be competitive with Angola and New Zealand.
  24. Yes we have some attacking power like we ve never had before but we are still Canada and need to play our best player in a must win game. What if their keeper pulls a "Jonny Placide" on us and we can't score while we conceed a weak goal? Let's also remember that our defense looked shacky against Martinique and we needed Borjan to pull some excellent saves. I can see Cuba getting some quality chances today too. I say, let's play our best 11 because we could regret it.
