The Real Marc
Likely to be the backup to Alex Carins, I think? Though might be a chance to scoop up the job if there are injuries. Noticed this in other signing photos, the weird British style to do up all the buttons on a polo. That look always felt a bit repulsive to me. Like wearing shoes without socks. The Real Marc

WestHamCanadianinOxford
Starting his 3rd game in a row for Fleetwood Town in League One. Looks like he started as a replacement given their new signing no.1 got injured a couple games in but has taken over from Alex Cairns lately. Apparently Joey Barton is his manager. Fun. Edit: Looking up the thread and totally on topic. I will just take buttons done up on a polo over pop-the-collar which I see more often, especially amongst the middle-aged here. Saw a shirt the other day that was meant to be popped as the underside of the collar was a Union flag. Classy. Is Cairns hurt? No. They signed a new #1 who got hurt in an early cup game, I think. Cairns played a number and then Leutwiler took over. Cairns has been the backup every game since. Edit: Interesting to see what the roles will be when Coleman (the name of the keeper they signed) is back. But the injury was listed as 3-5 months back in mid September when it happened. The Real Marc
I didn't realize Coleman was the starter, I thought it was Carins like last year. If Coleman is destined for #1, then Leutwiler could still see himself without a club come January. Bummer.

Not sure if they are in a place to carry three (they actually have 4 on their site right now) keepers or not. But I would say Leutwiler is ahead of Cairns at the moment. Joey Barton's comments on the original signing, take them for what they are worth. "Joel [Coleman] has been brought in to compete with Al [Cairns] and we've always wanted competition in the team. You can get a little complacent if there's no-one pushing you. I think competition keeps you on your toes and brings the best out of you on a Saturday or in training, and in recent years I don't think we've had that competition for Al and I don't think he's really been challenged. I think we've been lucky bringing Joel in at an age that's young for a goalkeeper and we see enormous potiential in him. At this moment he's in the jersey and it's his job to keep it and Alex's job to wrestle it back. He's done that in the past and I'm fully confident that will be an intriguing competion as the season progresses." https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sport/football/fleetwood-keeper-joel-coleman-expects-be-out-three-five-months-2966803 (I should talk but that paper needs a copy editor.) johnyb

Impresive! Sounds like he was the clear 3rd keeper and he won the starting job. As said, it will be interesting what happens when Coleman is back. At the very least he's showed he can be a starter at this level, if he's dropped, other clubs will come calling. WestHamCanadianinOxford
Listened to his game against Oxford United on the actual radio, of all things. 2-0. Another clean sheet, another win. Other than a penalty early, which he saved, it didn't sound like the Yellows generated much else. WestHamCanadianinOxford
His team lost 2-0 to Hull City in the first round proper of the FA Cup. Playing one of the better teams in their division is probably a tough draw at that stage. And sounds like some tough injuries in the game. UK only (probably viewable with a VPN, BBC stuff usually was) highlights, just the goals. Does not seem like he had much chance on either. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54840037 narduch
