Imagine MediaPro, after bailing on their Ligue deals and causing total financial havoc, called them up in the middle of last winter and said, "one thing though: can we still show a match a week in Canada? We can pay you ...."

On the Ligue 1 website, they are listed as the rights holders along with BeIN Sports and TV5 but website isn't clear as to who has the rights to show which matches.

Just a question for anyone that might know.  The Sofascore App shows that Justin Smith played World Cup Qualifiers for the British Virgin Islands. Does this make him unable to play for Canada?

Different one.  I believe.

Never a dull moment when Marseille is involved...

Handed a 3-nil forfeit defeat because  "players refused to return from the dressing room" while Nice has to play one game without fans. Curious.

He's on the roster again for Sunday vs Bordeaux (as per article). Any chance we see a call up if we don't see Arfield and/or Hutch for whatever reason?

He's about 6'2 and has experience playing CB, I think he could get called in place of Sturing's past spot. The experimental young defender brought in to see if we've got something there.

Not called to the France U20 or U19 squads earlier this month (as an '03, he is more of a U19).

---

There will be a U19/U20 friendly tournament next month in Marbella Spain.

We need to send @Unnamed Trialist over because the participants are France, Belgium, Mexico and England.

In theory, we could see Smith, Jebbison and Flores all playing against each other! :P

Here is an 8 minute documentary on Justin.

Key facts:

- Started playing the game at 7 in the Yvelines department (suburb of Paris).

- Caught the attention of PSG and joined their academy for U15 and U16 before transferring to Nice for U17

- The coaches seemed to have moved him from defensive midfield ( a Piette type role ) to centre back.

- On contract until 2026.

- Obviously incredibly eager to make his pro debut ( he says he will take 10 minutes, 5 minutes, even 30 seconds on the pitch at the end of a Ligue 1 match ) but also level headed about the whole thing and knows that he needs to show the coaching staff that he is ready.

- Nothing mentioned about his background, family or heritage ( links to Canada &/or links to France)

Link to Canada? His parents probably had  mile high sex over Canada while they were going from France to California for vacation.

Seems like he’s in a similar situation as Corbeanu last year. Will make some bench appearances but extremely unlikely to get meaningful minutes until maybe the last few matches of the year (assuming they’re not playing for anything by the ).

hopefully he can get a decent loan and play pro minutes

I think he's as close to a shoo-in for our program in the future as it gets. If he was in PSG's academy and now is on the verge of playing time with Nice at 18, it's only a matter of time. I think he'll be a great player for us, and if he can play both CB and CDM, he will be a very valuable addition.

You do know that Ikone was in PSG's academy right?

We all like to clown him and he's a frustrating player but if he was Canadian he'd be on the team every camp lol.

You're right, except for the fact that he's cap tied to France 😅

I'll take a pass on that thank you very much!

A few decent results and all of a sudden we are turning down French internationals 😜
