One wonders how well the Haitian players with Violette that just knocked off Austin are paid. Several would have no trouble inserting themselves into a CPL roster.

The Haitian league hasn't played a full season for a couple of years. Violette hasn't played since last May.

Technically, Violette’s players are professionals. But having second jobs is necessary in a country with a per capita GDP of US$1,664.

Saba, the captain, works in a hardware store that has been owned by his family for two generations. Saba was on the field when Haiti came back from 2-0 down to upset a talented Canadian national team in the 2019 Gold Cup quarterfinals..

And when San Millan returns home from training, he hits the books. Champions League games or not, the 18-year-old is still a few credits shy of the requirements for a high school diploma.

The team has learned that even in the muggy heat, it’s better to train in the morning and avoid training in the evening at all costs. Some players live hours away from Port-au-Prince and asking them to travel in the dark is a threat to their safety.

San Millan was born in Canada so if he ever wants to come to play in the CPL he would count as a domestic!

Sign them all on loan or outright

Saba spent some time with Montreal if I recall correctly

American soccer fans have been complaining that their media (ie. ESPN) has been paying more attention to the trials and tribulations to Ryan Reynold's Wrexham over any club in MLS.

Violette's a club that is even more fascinating, and more local, IMHO.

I think that is more a case of Reynolds setting that up. I mean, yeah, he has made some questionable decisions in the past (Green Lantern, X-Men Origins), but he is trying to get as much money into Wrexham as he can.

All Violette need is someone with money to set all that sort of stuff up.

Is he a big enough name to put more butts in seats?

Although I'm pretty happy with our CB options right now I'd love to see Doneil in Halifax. I've always felt we have lacked a "big name" Canadian on the squad.

https://www.torontofc.ca/news/toronto-fc-announce-2023-roster-moves

"TFC declined the 2024 contract options for goalkeepers Greg Ranjitsingh and Tomás Romero, defender Themi Antonoglou, midfielder Víctor Vázquez and forward CJ Sapong.

Defender Cristian Gutierrez will be out of contract at the end of the year. In addition, the loan deal for midfielder Franco Ibarra will expire at the end of the year."

Ranjitsingh, Antonoglou and Gutierrez are Canadian and should draw interest from the CanPL.

Loic Kwemi has had back to back big seasons, might be make or break time for him at 26.

Campoli reminds me of early CPL Bitar, in that he's always stood out but not been able to stick at the CPL level. Hopefully a lower table team is able to give him some time to get comfortable post gradution.

I was surprised that Skublak didn't stick after year 1 in HFX. Considering how much Anthony Novak has bounced around, I believe there's a demand for this type of striker in the league.

Adam Czerkawski is an interesting case as he was orginally a centreback but then played some forward with Oakville. He was a L1O TOTY player as a defender in 2021 and lit up the league after changing positions.

Pablo Hempelmann-Perez might be the biggest "prospect" of the group, as he's still only 19. Been featured on the forum in the past when he was in the youth setup at NAC Breda.

In terms of strike rate, only Novak's 2023 Valour season comes close to matching Skublak's 2019 for goalscoring ineptitude.
