How does that address the question? Saying they want something is not the same as guaranteeing it will actually happen. Good to see people are making it clear that they need to do something about this though.

It's not nitpicking. There are permanent football lines at Alumni Field, and the only comment from the team is that they "want" a clean field for soccer.

That's great and all, but hardly confidence-inspiring stuff.

He didn't say "we will have no football lines." He said we don't "want" them. It's an intentionally vague answer.

If they pull it off, great. But that's about as clear a non-answer as someone can give.

Agreed.

The answer sounds way more like "We hope there won't be football lines" than "There won't be football lines."

Maybe someone should follow-up with the rep and see if they clarify. If they don't, that'll speak volume.

Can we stop this now? I thought they were clear the 1st time around

Good on you for following up, but let's not pretend like that first response by Ben was clear.

Seems like they'll be going the green paint route, unless York9 is paying for new turf at Alumni Field (which would be impressive given the hopefully temporary nature of their stay).

FC Edmonton tried the paint route when they had lines on the Clarke turf, it wasn't acceptable they said so didn't go past the test stage.

New turf would be pricey, the portable Nexxfield turf cheaper but still at least 500k. Maybe they can borrow Montreal's Big O Nexxfield portable turf.;)

The key problem is that it's not York 9's stadium and they were only supposed to be there for part of this season and York U are planning on moving their teams to York Lions stadium so why would York U want the trouble and expense of having unmarked turf installed at Alumni Field? Fingers crossed the solution used is Nexxturf tiles, but that could be problematic once the York Lions football team starts to be active in terms of training sessions and games from August onwards.

I dont get what York U is doing, they should have one of the fields natural grass and have the soccer team play there along with York 9 and keep the football team on the other field.

Nexxfield takes about 12 hrs or so to setup/remove so wouldn't be too problematic imho.

"York 9 FC has confirmed it will play its inaugural Canadian Premier League season at York Lions Stadium.

The club says the north end of the York University venue will feature a multi-tiered "safe standing area to create a true football atmosphere for the club’s loudest supporters."

The team will play on natural grass in 2018. The stadium is being converted to artificial turf after the CPL season."
