Scott Kennedy

Recommended Posts

Kennedy didn't play today because of the red card suspension. The Jahn lost without him and are flirting with the relegation zone and are tied for worse goal difference in the league.

A reminder that his contract ends in June so if the Jahn do go down he doesn't have to go down with them.

Did he truly hurt is face? Google Translate gives me "cheekbone"  injury.

Strange.

This article says he broke his cheekbone during training and even has a black eye.

A quick Google search tells me this could take 2 to 7 weeks to heal.

Maybe @Ian Kennedy can tell us more.

Is he out for the #CanMNT in late March? :(

Well, I guess it's better than having broken his face in a bar fight! 😅

Scott Kennedy is ready to play as soon as he can bear the pain/discomfort?

Had surgery and some kind of plate added to his cheekbone to hold everything in place?

Google translate is not at 100% accuracy here and I have no knowledge of German:

Your translation is essentially correct. As soon as he can bear the pain and says he feels 100% he will be available to play. In regards to the injury it says no bones were dislodged in any way and that the plate was added as an extra stabilizer.

Kennedy was a very late sub and played ~8 minutes at the end of today's match to help his team hold for the win.

His first minutes since his red card on January 28th which means he has only played ~30 minutes of competitive football in 2023.

As noted by Olympique, after Jahn took the lead, the coach put Scott in for the last 8 minutes and 22 seconds to help the team close out the game. What did Scott do in the 8 mins and 22 seconds? A review shows that he: was in the air to clear a Kiel cross that would have landed in the 18 yard box; won a 1 v 1 in the 18 yard box that led to a Jahn goal kick; intercepted a ball in mid-field, passing to a midfielder, resulting in a foul by Kiel (and a Jahn penalty kick); protected the ball in mid-field to roll-out and use up precious time; intercepted a ball in mid-field and made a long pass resulting in another foul by Kiel in their own end.  It's been a strange second half start for Scott.  First recovering from Shoulder/collar-bone separation recovery (pre WC), then a Red Card on his return and recently an orbital/cheek fracture. Yesterday, with the help of a protective mask he was able to join the team and help win 3 points (away) against Kiel.  The Jahn moved up two spots to 16th in the standings. The win couldn't have come at a better time. Hopefully the team can carry the momentum to finish the season strong (with Scott playing more regularly). With 10 more games, if they are able to win 5 they can finish with 38 points and be clear of relegation.

Thank you for the detailed update.

Is there a timeline for how long he will need to wear the mask? What has been his experience like having to play with it?

EDIT:

Found a photo of him in the protective mask. Looks badass.

I thought he was solid considering he hasn't had much playing time at club level due to injuries, as noted in the match thread by others he looked a little awkward at times being left footed and playing to the right but there were few mistakes and a wonderful pass from him out of the back eventually lead to our first goal! He stepped in and played slightly out of position when we needed him to, I say well done!
