Looking good vs Hull. He has set up a few nice runs that haven't panned out yet. The game is on DAZN.

Was watching other things but he's on the pitch at business end of the game which is a good sign.

Watched the last 15 minutes

Great driving runs again that set up some half chances, Watford are still just not a team.

Yeah. He looked good for the most part. One giveaway, but he did create some decent chances. Neither team could finish. 0-0 FT

First half done against Sunderland

Had a couple of Watford's better chances were shots from range, neither taken well.

Passing has been good unlike most of his team. Defensive awareness/effort still need work.

Watford are such a frustrating team to watch sometimes.

Update: Assist from a decent pass on the break. The goal was by a one of two subs at half, who have made them look better.

Would be pretty surprising if Watford cashed in on Kone already- not sure how much they could get off him.

Seeing there's been no rumoured clubs in for him like Asprilla, maybe now is when we see the Udinese move? That was the general plan for him anyway from what I recall and Watford don't seem to be on the road to promotion, so maybe now is the time?

Udinese are currently in a relegation spot. I don't think a move from the Championship to Serie B would be an upgrade.

Good point, though if they win today they squeak out of direct relegation, I think.

Still, as you say, better to stay in Championship another year than in Serie B.

Serie A is a totally different matter as the level of play would be excellent for his development.

I imagine Kone moving would depend on them staying up. Maybe he would be viewed as part of the solution to ensure they aren't in this position next season.

And I know that only a subset of folks on here collect cards but there is a Canadian seller on eBay that still has 5 of his 2022 Topps Now cards available for $8 each (or best offer) plus $5 shipping.  No affiliation with the seller whatsoever (I wouldn’t sell mine that cheap) but if anyone thinks this guy is going to be a stud in the years to come it is a pretty low risk chance to grab a cool rookie card with a print run of ~1000.

Roma getting Kone sure is nice on paper.

I feel like he needs a middle step first where he gets playing time. I could see him being a periphery player and loaned out from Roma, potentially being a bit of a backwards step when all is said and done. Guess it depends how they view him.

Yeah, would’ve thought Udinese for a season or two then a step up. I’d be worried he’ll struggle to get playing time, but the upside is obviously huge.

Udinese would seem to fit the bill.  They managed to avoid relegation.

When you say middle step, are you referring to club or Serie A?

Middle step club in a top league. He needs lots of minutes. I'd like to believe Roma would be buying him with the aim of him pushing starting line ups but he wasn't a first name starter for watford this year. It seems a bit far fetched but they would surely be looking at his potential.

Roma buying him and loaning him out to a middle table team in a top league would probably be a pretty good win.

Got it. Btw, other than a stretch of games where he was on the bench Kone did start a lot of games for Watford. Keep in mind he had to deal with a  turnover of coaches this past season
