Would Breza be a good backup candidate in MLS at this point in his career?

Well he was the part time starter in montreal...31 MLS games in 2 years lots of highlights to watch if you want to see him.  Plus he has been kickin around Series C for a few years, why not an MLS backup??  Although Montreal let him go and kept Pantemis and Sirois if that makes his quality any clearer for you.

I am not a Pantemis fan:  at this stage of his career he's still prone to brain cramps at crucial moments though he can come up with big reflex saves or stops coming off his line.

Boehmer is a one match sub should Takaoka be injured/red carded.  I still think Hasal is the longer term replacement for a Takaoka absence, despite his recent struggles.

Up in the air at this point. I would take pre-2022 Hasal over current Boehmer, but it’s much more of a tossup on current form. That’s not to say Boehmer has been convincing, but his gaffs have been less egregious imo. Ultimately I think it’s a moot question. Any Takaoka injury longer than a few games likely triggers an emergency goalkeeper signing.

I think they are better off making a back up keeper signing much sooner than before it becomes an emergency move where a Cody Cropper 2.0 is brought in, if they finally decide that Hasal is not going to get his mojo back.

Let's see if he can overcome the adversity here.  I'm cheering for him to do so.

Question is how does he get his mojo back without games?  Probably best to send him on loan and bring a temp GK to finish the season.

Do what TFC did with Frei, Bono and Q, alternate the 2 youngsters as the back up with big club and let the other go down to next-Pro and get some games.  If you can still do that kind of stuff with the new rules etc.

personally, I think they would be better to loan him out to a CPL club who is in need of a keeper like CFM did with Sirois. Gets serious minutes in a pro environment which is focused on winning in front of serious fans rather than just development minutes where many players are working on fitness in front of friends and family

“Thomas has been managing patellar tendinitis for most of the year with the support of our entire sports performance team," said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. "Following a lot of discussion with Thomas, our medical staff, as well as patellar tendinopathy specialists, we’ve collectively made this decision so he can focus on a full recovery. In the coming weeks, he will see an additional specialist to determine his best course of action. We will continue to support Thomas throughout this process."

Thomas and the club had to turn down a couple of loan moves this summer because the risk of the injury getting much worse.  It's actually one of the same injuries he was carrying last year.  It wasn't operated on in December/January as the direction from the club was that he was needed/would have more game time than he's had.

Never great to have to miss the rest of the season, but he's been a backup so at least he can properly treat it and come back 100% for preseason or whatever opportunity is next for him.

Hasal had a guarenteed compensation of 222k American. I know Vancouver is expensive, but that is over 300 grand for a 24 year old (who is not a starter). I don't know where he's going to get close to this kind of money. Obviously it won't be in CanPL and I don't think he has the resume to play at a similar level in Europe, let alone one that'll pay him as hansomely.

He must be looking for someone within the league to sign him, probably for less than he is getting but more than Vancouver are offering.

Was offered revised terms (lower salary I believe) but did not accept.  Good time to start fresh.

Bohmer has 3 career MLS apps... I sincerely hope they don't roll with him as the new #2.

Durability/availability stifled Hasal's development.  I wish him all the best with a fresh start elsewhere.

I think Boehmer would be a good candidate for a longer term loan spell, and then the club could fill the back up job with a journeyman who knows his role as a clear back up but can be trusted for rotational starts.

Hit the nail on the head with Hasal.  But I think we will get another job in MLS, many GK’s with less experience employed across the league.  A fully fit Hasal could easily work his way back up.  Think the CPL shouts are funny.

Boehmer’s not ready to play MLS.  He shouldn’t be playing MLSNP considering they have Anchor signed, so hopefully he goes out on loan.  To where is the question.  I think his fellow German Axel will continue to push him as a #2 and that will result in the same thing that’s happened with Hasal.

Where in CPL would be good place for Boehmer? Which club needs a keeper?

Why CPL?  How about Sweden or especially Norway, which seems to be the "it" spot of late for Cancon MLS academy grads (Nelson, Thompson, Metcalfe)?

This is where Hasal should look.

Boehmer, doesn't have much experience under his belt, the challenge is why would a 1st team be willing to invest minutes in him if they get nothing of benefit in return.

Kosi Thompson and Metcalfe had 1st team MLS games under their belt, that's what helped them land those clubs.  And this is the challenge with the other VWFC releases like Campagna and Habibullah, they didn't even get that much from Vancouver in order to find a move like that.

Based on what I saw of his limited play with the Caps, I was surprised Metcalfe landed where he did, but I am geniunely pleased that he has been able to forge out a career in Norway Div 2 with promotion challenging sides.

Metcalfe promoted two weeks ago with Friedrikstad and has a year on his contract. As he was a core player for them he's likely to be in Norway Elitserien next season.
