CONCACAF U17 qualifying: Guatemala Feb 2023 ( + preparation & news )

Recommended Posts

Professional performance vs Haiti. Canada the better team but 3-0 is probably a flattering score line. Abraham made some key saves but overall good to see Canada dictate the game and keep their composure.

Difficult to assess players at this age but Omeze, Stefanovic, and Chuckwu have each impressed me. Looks like we’re deep in CB prospects which is a nice luxury given our lack of depth at the senior level.

Biello and Badwal have also been a pleasant surprise. Biello’s clean first touch and ball security (on a bumpy pitch no-less)  is noticeable. One to watch for sure.

The attack hasn’t really clicked yet. Overall, the talent for this age group seems tilted towards the defensive end of the pitch.

What happens with One Soccer, there will be an overlap of our Women's tournament match and our Men's U17 qualifier, can they show 2 live feeds on their platform, I have never checked that out before?

People have reported issues trying to stream two things on OneSoccer.

Sometimes they put one of the games on YouTube.

IMO it should be the U17 WC qualifier that they give priority to if there is a conflict, it is a far more important match than the She Believes Cup, especially given its "win and you're in" a World Cup status. However, they may go with women's team match if the viewership at this point has been higher for the WNT than the men's U17 team.

Mind you, it's probably a good thing that Onesoccer is making the call on what gets priority - if it was the CSA doing so and they chose a men's youth team match over a women's team match of any kind, it would no doubt be used by Janine Beckie as further evidence of the "blatant sexism" on the part of the CSA.

Couldn’t agree more.

Think it's pretty obvious One Soccer will show the CanWNT live on their main feed.

They have been giving their matches the pre and post game treatment. They have been using their own announcers.

For the U17 they have been using the Concacaf feed.

The only question is will they make it free on their YouTube channel or not.
