Awesome. Not answers to my questions though.

What I'm saying is, how could he not walk into a starting midfield position if he's playing at a player of the month level in a superior league than MLS and the SPL. If he does end up making a move to one of Porto, Benfica or Sporting, the only CMNT player with a bigger club would be Davies.

Atiba with Besiktas you could make an argument for, but not Piette, Oso, or Arfield. Don't get me wrong I love those three, but just my opinion.

Of course he has to actually choose Canada as well

So who do you take out? I understand he’s a great player, I’m just curious to hear from those who’ve actually seem him play. Why is he a great player and how would he fit in with the NT?

He just won player of the month in Liga Nos, and will likely be playing for one of Portugal's big three next year.

Ya, big article in Portugal's sports newspaper Record about how he will be transferred to Sporting!

The wizard of OZ may have really f*** this one up for us.

How is it his fault exactly?

Do you believe the rumour that @shermanator repeated?

Since this is not first hand information, I'd take this with a grain of salt, but what I've heard from multiple people is...

Zambrano was on one of his "scouting trips" in Spain (aka an excuse to live large on the CSA's dime while doing no actual scouting) while Eustaquio was playing in Torreense. Eustaquio reached out to Zambrano to express his desire to play for Canada, inviting Zambrano to watch him play as he was nearby. Zambrano never bothered to get back to him. Eustaquio then moved to Leixoes and shortly after accepted a callup from Portugal.

So either this is a prime example of why Zambrano was fired seemingly out of nowhere, or a perfect example of a Zambrano smear job on his way out.

Would not be surprised if it was true.

This certainly takes him out Portugal's radar, crazy that he was linked with European clubs such as: Sporting CP, Seville, Betis, Man City and Newcastle UTD and Never managed to sign with them

Now being with Cruz Azul in Liga MX, the best league in CONCACAF I think this brings him closer to play for Canada

I'm sure John Herdman is talking with Stephen to bring him into the fold, hopefully by March the earliest, he has to file his one time switch

While I was initially surprised as well, I think you are underestimating the strength of some of the better Mexican clubs.

I am a bit wary of the fact its a Portuguese manager bringing him to Cruz Azul... as such what are the chances said manager steers him towards waiting for a call from Portugal should he really impress in Liga MX (and likewise the Portuguese National team made aware of him)?
