We should be playing every window, period.  Look around the world at every country comparable to Canada and they play.. we don't and we suffer constantly for it.  We have one of the highest qualities of life in the world but somehow apologists want to act like playing a few extra friendlies a year is a massive unrealistic burden.  And worst, we compare ourselves to 3rd world countries.. like "oh, well El Salvador didn't play every window" ... yea NO KIDDING, we aren't El Salvador.  Imagine the USA "Oh, well Jamaica didn't make the World Cup either".  We play in one of the poorest regions on earth.. stop comparing ourselves to rivals outside of the football lines.  We need to hold ourselves to higher organisational standards akin to the USA.  Play games, ALWAYS.  I don't want to hear about how we don't have the money etc. it's bullshit and if we don't it's due to mismanagement which isn't an excuse.  Squeeze money out of the MLS clubs if you have to.. there is a TON of money flying around this country yearly for football it's insane.

Thank You and amen brother!

This kid is as good as gone, first of all he left Canada with his family when he was 11, so if he played youth soccer in Canada before he left he probably played organized youth soccer here in Canada for about say 7 years from say the age of 4 to the age of 10 so probably has those memories of his soccer playing days as a kid in Canada which is good it can give you an attachment to Canada having those memories which can play a part when making a decision a small part but at least a part. However, the fact that he and is family moved back to Portugal since he was 11 and he has spent all that time back in Portugal and now developing as a player and making it to a decent pro league in Portugal already will play a major role in his decision if the full national team of Portugal comes calling and can you blame him if he picks Portugal after living there since the age of 11 with his family and I mean the guy is Portuguese with his family and him only spending what 11 to maybe 15 years in Canada and it's Portugal one of the better national teams in the world to top it all off, this is no Julian Deguzman who really had no family ties to Holland and was only there to develop as a soccer player.

This could be good for us, if he plays for Portugal in an official youth match but falls off the radar he's officially ours the moment his one-time switch is filed and approved. We won't be left wondering if/when he'll ditch us...

Honestly he's never given an indication that he wanted to represent Portugal for the long term. This was probably him going in for the experience of playing in a camp and come March I'm not surprised at all if he files his switch and is called-up by Zambrano for a friendly.

We will see if he gets another call to the Portuguese U21 squad in a few weeks. He is playing in the Primeira Liga again this year with G.D. Chaves.

Contrarily to Ferreira, Eustaquio can afford to hold off committing to Canada due to his age. As long there's a remote glimpse of hope that he can play with Ronaldo for Portugal, he'll wait it out up until at least post 2024 Euro. If he isn't call up within the next 6 years, then Canada become a no brainer  as a host nation.

Ferreira on the other hand, due to his age, if he isn't cap by Euro 2020, that's it for him and we might get him for the 2022 cycle and beyond

Subbed off at half time in a 2-1 loss to Romania on September 7th then didn't get off the bench in Portugal's U21 2-0 win over Wales yesterday.

Portugal is still in a dog fight to qualify with Bosnia and Romania. They have a free 3 points against Liechtenstein followed by a winner take all game against Bosnia October 16th.

I was just browsing social media in light of the recent news and I noticed Stephen Eustaquio liked Canada soccer's Instagram post about Tabla's commitment. ???

If we can get him too, that would be HUGE. He's likely going to move to one of the big three in Portugal next year.

Starting and playing every minute of GD Chaves' games in the Primeira Liga in Portugal.   Chaves are doing well.  They're mid table and have recently draw with both of the league leaders Porto and Benfica!

He's been playing for Portugal's u21 team in the qualifying stages for the 2019 UEFA u21 final tournament.

Portugal are currently 3rd in their group and have the last two group games in the next couple of weeks (Oct 11&16)

It would make sense that he would at least finish this cycle with Portugal's u21's before possibly making any decision on his senior national team allegiance.

Depending on how they do: Win and Qualify for The U21 Euro Tournament in 2019 hosted by Italy/San Marino

Which means after June he’d be able to make a choice at the earliest should the Senior squad see a future in him for a crowded midfield

Lose, and he’s done with Portugal in Youth Career and can make that decision much sooner

As a CDM/CM we have: Hutchinson*, Piette, Osorio, Arfield,  Kaye, and Teibert

I just hope there room for Stephen, one thing is clear; he has a much better chance to break into the starting 11 & be part of our 23 more often than Portugal

He easily walks into one of our starting positions in the mid.

Even excluding Hutch going forward you can’t say that he “easily walks into” our midfield. At this point our best 3 is probably Arfield, Oso and Piette.

How many games have you seen SE play? Who would you bump and why?

He just won player of the month in Liga Nos, and will likely be playing for one of Portugal's big three next year.
