Obinna Posted January 7, 2020 Share Posted January 7, 2020 (edited) Strangely enough, I think this move gets Aird a little closer to a national team return. All things being equal, I usually prefer our guys to be in Europe, so they can climb up the ladder. However, Aird seemed to have slipped and fell off the ladder, crashing all the way down to the Scottish 4th tier. Being in North America may put more eyeballs on him. Unlike Aleman, he would come to USL with MLS experience, not to mention 8 international caps and 1 goal. Having Glasgow Rangers on his resume doesn't hurt either and he can play multiple positions. If he goes to San Diego and does well I can see an MLS team scooping him up to fill out their depth. I would expect a return to the national team return to accompany that.
