Canadian Owners Abroad

Alot of talk about US players abroad is that they get more opportunities for various reasons including marketing and ownership. I was trying to find a site that lists Soccer owners by country, but was unable to do so.

I only know of a few, but I'm wondering if there are more out there?

The ones that I know.

Joey Saputo - Bologna - Serie A

Jason Neale and Stewart Thompson - 50% of Peterborough United - English Championship

Mitchel Goldhar - Maccabi Tel Aviv FC - Isreal Premier League

Ryan Reynolds - co-owner of Wrexham FC - English National League

Alex Haditaghi - Kavala FC - Super League Greece 2

York United have an owner who’s company has built a decent amount of homes throughout the GTA , hopefully he can figure out away of building a proper decent size and more of a soccer friendly stadium for his team or at least figure out away of making that stadium they play in more soccer friendly.

You would think that since he's able to buy so much land to build homes throughout Ontario, he'd already have been able to get some commercial land somewhere to build a stadium. I mean, he does have the inside track on zoning regulations.

Edit: sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread.

The last club he owned was 1. Weiner Neustadter SC, but that was over 10 years ago and he is almost 90 years old now.

Don't think there have been any indications that Belinda Stronach shares his passion for soccer.

All they really do these days is sponsor youth soccer in Aurora. And even then its limited.

Drake to own a piece of AC Milan via his stake in Main Street Advisors. Yankees are another owner. Yankees first soccer investment was a 20% stake in NYFC.

Redbird Capital bought the club in June (officially become owners on Sept 1st) from Elliot Management. Redbird borrowed US$602 million from Elliot to fund the purchase. So, they were looking to reduce their burden.

Redbird has also funded Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports for US$750 million during covid. They got about a 10% stake.

They're also majority owner of TFC - Toulouse Football Club or TeFeCe- since 2020. They invested in Toulouse after looking at 80 clubs in 13 leagues and visiting 50 over 4 years.

If you're looking for a ligue 1 club to support besides Lille, Athletic had a 2-parter just recently:

I read an article that was in Italian quite a few months back that I cannot find where it was said he (the Canadian) wants to build a connection to Canada with club.

Edit: found it https://quotidianomolise.com/calcio-angelo-pasto-nuovo-socio-del-campobasso/
