When reading the comments on Joshua Kloke’s story in The Athletic today, this comment caught my attention.

Holmes is a 21 year old Center Back who has played over 60 games in the Championship with Reading. Surely if he’s eligible we’d have heard something about him before now. I forwarded the info to Galindo to see if he can track down more info on the player and if he’s eligible for Canada.

Didn't we run into a similar problem as Johansen? Having a grandparent apparently wasn't enough to make him eligible.

That was my thought as well, but I’ll be hopeful until we get the bad news.

You can be eligible to play for a country if your grandparent was born there. I think in Johansen’s case there was not sufficient documents to provide legal evidence that his grandmother was Canadian born and had a Canadian passport.

Couldn't find him on their international academy website for this season. However, I did find two other Canadians in the international academy: Max Rosemond (2004) with the U18 Varsity team and Gerry Duan (2007) with the U16 Junior team.
