Its a 20 team tournament. You will need lots of available fields to pull this off.

San Pedro Sula has three:

Olímpico Metropolitano

Yankel Rosenthal

Francisco Morazán

Just for reference, back when San Pedro Sula hosted the Woman's U20 :

http://www.americansoccernow.com/articles/varas-discusses-status-of-the-u-s-u-20-team-ahead-of-this-summer-s-critical-tournament Interview with the U20 US coach. Sounds like they're going to a tournament in March.

How I wish we'd play in friendly tournaments. Just having a camp isn't enough these guys needs in game reps. Otherwise the first time they face actual opposition will be at the tournament itself in the summer.

Can’t stress this enough. It’s peak insanity.
How we qualified in the recent past (only u17) has been either sheer talent or luck.

Mexico and USA have already played in tournament.

The USA has played 5 matches already.

We really have no excuse to not be creative. Forge have been looking for matches, a domestic camp like that would cost no more than 20k.

Are there any kids in the US college ranks too who could contribute too? As in the past this age group teams have seemed mostly be kids from the three MLS academies/reserve teams with some others sprinkled in. With it being in the summer getting players released from European teams would not seem to be an issue, am I right?

LA Galaxy's Marcus Ferkranus, and I'd add Edmonton loanee Felix N'Sa and Forge's Johnny Son.

One interesting thing is to add is I wonder if the team would run some sort of 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 and emulate the senior team.

The U23s ran a 4-3-3 (a wack one at that, wtf was Biello doing with Bassong the whole tourney) but I think this was before we really committed to a 3atb system at the senior level.

In Toronto/GTA could you not use BMO, York U and say THF just as an example. Maybe even Lamport Stadium. Unlike say hocky arenas does many more cities have two suitable venues? I am not sure what the attendance expectations are for  such an event.

Couple things

Rea is too old.

Abatneh (called up for the u20 camp in January), Campagna, Pellegrino should be there

Would he be to old for the final tournament but not for the qualifying in June?

Not sure how this rule works?
(however I get that it wouldn’t make sense to bring a guy who wouldn’t be eligible if they made it)

Any chance we can muscle in on the USA tournament?

We desperately need a camp and some games.

I have very little faith we can do anything but flop without the above happening and the uninspiring coaching appointment.

If we somehow manage to to persuade any of the dual nationals to take part we could have a reasonably solid squad.

If we don't run something in March we will likely lose Kelosha back to the states too.

With the men's program taking off in the public eye, getting to the Olympics is such an important part of cementing the game into the mainstream fabric of Canada. I am pretty sad the u20s became qualifying as our u23s would likely have been strong.

Based on the rosters for the pre tournament late 2021,  even for the qualifier you cannot be 2002 or older.

Do we finally have all these kids in some academy in Europe?

I thought I'd never see the day.

They won't all pan out, but...good to have so many options.

Do we know if these kids are 'Canadian' and only moved for football of if they are duals without any Canadian background except a parent?

All 3 of those kids are Canadian born and raised and only just recently left Futsal Club Toronto. Galati has played for Team Ontario at the U15 level.
