Selling out and getting 5000 fans out is something a bunch of CPL teams havnt done yet.  I dont know how much more they would have to do to prove there is a fanbase there.  I am still wondering who the money is?  I read the article on Belan, Mcnaughton, SImpson etc do those guys have millions for a buy in to the league??

Yeah if they are expecting to see a sell out before thinking a CPL will be sustainable that just isn’t going to happen. I understand these games are important to test the market. The thing is they are still meaningless games, and casuals or non soccer fans probably don’t even know  about them. Saskatchewan sports fans are all in. If they get a CPL club they will be top of the table for attendance.

Hypothetically if they got a team would they play at SMF Field or would they get a pop up stadium?

Talk of doing something at the Prairieland park complex.  Take the big grandstand there (5000) and maybe laying down turf, pop up stands around it, presto chango 8-9000 cozy little stadium.  Short term fix, but who knows eh??

We don't know what their internal benchmark is. This is just advertising. Also it's probably not coming down to one single metric but a balance of all factors.

Yeah, this. Nowhere does it say if they get 5000 that they will get a CPL team, or that they need 5000 to get a CPL team. They are just saying that would send a strong message. They are right about that.

This is the area Belan shows. It's the building straight east of the 'Prairieland Park' pin. It would have enough room certainly.

Just to the east of those buildings is a pre-existing grandstand that looks like it could hold at least 2000 people. They just need to remove the stage and equipment, till the soil, unroll some sod, surround it with some additional modular seating, and they'll have a decent start.

I havnt heard anyone say they were going to play in the Gordie bowl.  Most of the talk has been going across the river to the Prairieland and laying sod/astroturf etc in front of the existing grandstand (5000), and slapping in some pop ups (2-3000) and voila...no football lines, cozy atmosphere, parking bathrooms, food etc etc all ready in place.  Sounds like a good plan to me, and something that wouldnt take years to complete.

If Saskatoon can bring out 3000 to an exhibition game against TFC2, then they damn well should be able to bring out 3000 to CPL games against Calgary and Edmonton etc.  That would put them ahead of Pacific and Y9, not great, but not bad.
