I got TST3 tickets. I plan to attend the first two Canada matches, but will sell the 3rd. I have my flights booked.

I applied for the Hayya card which finally was approved pending Accommodations.

Finding accommodations has been the most difficult as I usually prefer to stay in hotels which are currently not released. The Villas (which look more like dormitories or compounds) didn't look too inviting to me and wasn't easy to book as a solo traveler.

I was finally able to find a cruise ship room, which I booked for 1 night (which is odd since its says 2 night minimum) for my first night there (Arrive Nov23rd 1st Canada Game). Once I booked this, my Hayya pass automatically was approved.

If I cannot find any reasonable accommodations, my plan is to fly out to Dubai or Oman the following day and use that as a base, and return back for the 2nd Canada match on the Sunday..hopefully some hotels open up in the next while

But at least it seems I have fulfilled all the criteria to actually enter Qatar and watch a Football match

I and a few others will book a larger apartment if you want a room please DM me. Our timelines match for travel. Trying to get a place near old airport or near Villaggio mall.

^They have been vague about the location of the military camps (oops sorry,  “fan villages”) for some reason. Suspect the reason is that they are far from central Doha.

Someone has DMed me to say they have seen the locations and they are actually pretty good, near the metro. If so, the bare bones won’t matter. So I don’t want to be that guy, maybe best to keep an open mind …

From what I read online they will be located near a beach resort one hour south of Doha. They are being constructed in the summer which may be why they aren't available yet.

At least according to this article - https://news.sky.com/story/world-cup-2022-five-star-beach-camping-one-of-the-affordable-options-for-fans-in-qatar-12579183

The Qatari government has spent 300B on this world cup and have continuously said they expect 1 mil+ to attend. My gut is that they are still a few months from completing construction on all their accommodation options. I suppose what is available online via their portal are accommodations that were already built or recently built. It seems that they currently have 5 residential complexes in and around Doha and two hotels that are still under construction with completion set for late July according to their building and tender unit.

They’ve posted about the fan villages. No prices given

Maybe Hong Kong has found a use for their excess capacity of their isolation units now that the Covid wave has crested...and sold them to Qatar

So I've been communicating with quite a few of you offline on shared accommodations. There is a lot of uncertainty with tickets, aligning schedules and even numbers of people going. So in order to help everyone here in the CSN community find shared accommodations, I've put together a simple Google sheets doc for us all to coordinate.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wvwVxCR-OaW-rJwSlwBrASuKP0Tjzz_JyLUp23aKDVY/edit?usp=sharing

If you are on here and do not want to be, please feel free to delete yourself. This accommodations challenge is a bit like a big game of musical chairs, but hopefully with enough chairs. And my intention is to find everyone a chair when the music stops. No one gets left behind!

If you are looking for shared accommodations with fellow V's, please have a look. We have some time before phase 2 draw results are known and therefore tickets are confirmed.

FYI a group of us are staying at this place - 5 minute walk to a terminal central metro station and two stops away from the main FanFest.

I'll add to this thread and say that I'll be staying here with a buddy.  We are not far from the Al Doha Al Jadeda Metro and the Souq Waqif.

Fan villages are now available to book. Prices start at US$207.36.

This one is walking distance to a metro station, a mall and Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium where Canada plays Belgium. But no AC.

Holiday homes are also open for bookings. Prices start at US$700.55.

Adding my data point: https://www.qatar2022.qa/book/en/detail/57512/3133-Al-Sadd-39-Apartments

In the Al Sadd area, near the Mirqab mall and a 10 min walk to metro station. Also, as many bathrooms as bedrooms, which is nice.

Close to a couple of you and also 10 min or so to the metro (and possibly walkable to last match in a pinch (1hr 20mins) but probably better to take the metro a couple of stops which is only about 1hr from the stadium...I suspect there will be buses though

^You may find things I didn't ... but FYI, for those considering basing elsewhere, short haul flights to and from Abu Dhabi and Dubai are generally $1000-1500 each way during the group stage. (I didn't look at Muscat.)

It's not totally clear to me what the rules are involving land journeys (it's about 7 hours drive time from Abu Dhabi to Doha) but it seems likely that this will be possible. That trip involves transiting Saudi, so, even if permitted (it isn't always), multiple border crossings could add significant time/hassle to that trip

Flights from Doha to Muscat were about 500$  but the times were a bit strange.

FYI, Qatar airways just reduced price Doha to Dubai (about 200$) so that may make for a good side trip

FIFA is saying 23.5 million ticket requests came through in the most recent phase - deadline was yesterday. In the previous phase, 17 million were requested.

The biggest number of ticket applications came from from the same countries as in previous phases: Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Mexico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the USA.

This time they disclosed most in demand matches with Argentina dominating the list (but they're also playing two other high demand ticket countries):

In addition to eager applications for the final, the most coveted matches included Argentina v. Mexico, Argentina v. Saudi Arabia, England v. USA and Poland v. Argentina.

I tried for that Argentina-Mexico game too. Saturday night. I can’t imagine how many people tried for that game.

When I open the spreadsheet, it says view only so I can’t add myself to the list. Got TST4 tickets and will be there from Nov 19-dec 8. I’ll keep trying to figure out how to add myself to the list
