The Importance of Alphonso Davies

Davies is a certified u23 baller.

High Primary SCA -> created chances for others and himself

Secondary SCA - it's the player doing a dribble leading to another player dribble/pass resulting in a shot

What's interesting about that chart is that the upper part is entirely populated with forwards and attacking midfielders.  The only defenders in that chart are way down in the bottom left.  The one exception is Alphonso Davies.

Although I don't trust Jose Felix Díaz much, pursuing Davies makes a lot of sense for Madrid. Ferland Mendy leaves a lot to be desired going forward.

But no chance Davies leaves Bayern and even if he did, I can't see him going to Real Madrid. Barcelona maybe but even then he most likely would probably go to the Premier League if he leaves Bayern key word if.

"Alphonso Davies had a masterclass today. His defending was ace, holding down the fort on the right side perfectly. Davies was quick to recover whenever there was space on his flank, and even joined the attack, providing an extra option in the left half-space, although he was a little under-utilised. His importance to recycling possession was also showcased, especially when re-working the ball from corners where Davies was often the last man pivoting the ball from side to side. Davies is the best full-back in the world."

Played a significant role in the first goal today - overlapped to the touchline and put in a nice cutback to Sane, whose shot was saved right onto the head of Gnabry for the goal.  I would argue that Davies might be the key starter on Bayern right now - every other starter has a backup who can fill in more than adequately, but there's no one on the bench who can even come close to what Davies does on that left side.

Just switched over.

I wouldn't trade a packet of crisps for those kits.

Is Davies's influence so strong that Bayern Munich is paying homage to Canada with those kits? They're reminiscent of the Hudson Bay blanket coats. BTW, this is the "Voyager" model:

Meister of the Match: Alphonso Davies

Alphonso Davies made it all work for his team tonight. With a game-high six interceptions, five dribbles and two goal contributions, the Canadian International put in a complete performance and was Bayern’s best player on the pitch. In addition to making some crucial recoveries, Davies was a constant source of attacking-creativity for his teammates.

While his wing-partner Sadio Mané had a relatively quiet night, Davies provided much-needed control, speed and ball-progression from the left flank. The Canadian took three shots for the first time this season and his efforts came to fruition as he capped off a superb night with a goal in added-time.
