I don't usually complain about refs but this guy is a complete joker. So many missed calls and mistakes. 2-1 in the 89th and this is getting out of hand from a fan and player perspective.

More of an actual question (than a veiled suggestion) - but doesn’t belting someone with a ball after the whistle constitute a yellow?  I know it would have been the guy’s second yellow but that seems pretty blatant.

I've been watching. All his combination play is impeccable, he moves the ball well to teammates. But it is rarely reciprocated, they miss him all the time. That Icelandic player can't find him, Zhegrova is slow finding him too, he even has moments when he complains about the "service".

The penalty was after a defender made a bad back pass, he picks it up and goes into the box and the other defender clearly fouls him. He stays down a while, to make sure he's okay, and the penalty is very cooly taken. And against that prick of a keeper Pau Lopez, who stomped on Messi behind the play pre VAR, when playing for Espanyol. Very dirty, underhanded fellow.

I know that David has a lot going for him in a withdrawn position but he just looks so much better, to me, with a smart player that actually play that position behind him,  Cabela, Gomes when he playes there, and even Ben Arfa in half-season cameoes a couple years ago.

Not something we are blessed with a lot of in the national team, (though i think that might be Eustaquio's position), and if we are going with at least three attackers, not sure something we can afford, given what we have in central midfield.

Playing against these powerhouses may be the way to try some of these things. I am not sure, but maybe put David behind Larin, linking with the mids, and Davies as a mid going into wing.

But if we are going to do it your way, it could be David up high and Staq pushed up to support him, as the attacking mid. Leave Davies again as a mid finding the wing, and sit Larin.

There was just another play where they broke, David found another attacker, and the guy could not play it back for a great chance. Then a guy they subbed in on the right, playing with his head down, a few times David was totally open. It is 3-1, it does not matter, they played well, but you can see David wants more goals, I have rarely seen him so intent on getting his stats up. And deservedly.

It's his most slept on attribute and why he is going to thrive at a top team, where his teammates can play at his speed of thought and execution.

Interesting reading this, as it was very similar to David's last season at Gent when he had clearly out grown his teammates/team. It's time for his next move.

They rested (or at least didn't start) a few people in their capitulation to Man City at the weekend. Martinez and Watkins were out but suppose to be game time decisions so might be back.

Feels like they are taking it seriously.

I only watched the last half, but they were very unambitious, they let Man City move the ball slowly in front of their faces and there was no coordinated pressure. Uninspired.

Again, you have to believe in Emery as a knock-out round specialist, but he also is known for coaching teams into critical lulls. What I am saying: Lille should be a good match for Aston Villa, I am not sure the difference is that great.

Do we want David going to Inter to team up with Tajon to win titles? Or do we want him going to rival Milan so we can watch him outshine Pulisic? :D

Again for me it's where he'll play.

Milan play with one striker that has still  been 37 year old Giroud who is probably? leaving for American pastures.  Noah Okafor looks like he has been playing on the wing but can play through the middle though not really as a classic 9.  Luka Jovic kind of seems to be living off the big year he had with Haller and Rebic at Frankfurt, a while ago (West Ham bought Haller off it) and would have to be a back up to David still.  David just offers something very different from Giroud, is that a system change they would like to make.

Inter play two strikers who have been Martinez and Thuram with aging but skilled backups. Thuram just got there but Chelsea have been sniffing about Martinez for a while.  Perfect system to slot into, if David would be first choice for one of the spots.

Edit: interesting rumour about Thuram, probably paper (X) talk?

In an odd way, I think of Thuram similarly to how I think with Bair -- I don't know exactly how good they actually are. Thuram does a lot of good things and his good attributes are really salient. I think he works really well for how Inter are set up under Inzaghi with his athelticism and dribbling ability (something the rest of the team lacks, which actually makes Buchanan potentially more important). But, he's got 10 goals in 28 games. His best season is 13 in 30 in the Bundesliga. Decent numbers, sure, but not amazing. If Inter get a huge bid I think they should definitely consider it as they are not in the best financial position. Taremi is coming in, but he's not a needle mover for a club with CL aspirations. Arnautovic is on loan and not good enough and Sanchez is old and not good enough, so even if Thuram stays they need striking reinforcement.

That wasn't an option although based on your response I take it you have a soft spot for Milan (or possibly a dislike of Inter)?

Didn't Porto with Taremi reach the champions league quarter finals during Eustaquio's first full season? He is older now and has had a pretty weak system.

I have a soft spot for Thuram. He seems like such a nice guy. Would love for him to stay and become best friends with Tajon or something, but if he leaves and David comes in, obviously that's better, and if they want to go big game hunting, I think he's a better option than any name you mention.

I don't dislike Inter, just think that Milan has longer term value and, as they build themselves back, should go further in the next few years.

I wouldn't mind David at either, and oddly, would prefer him to not be with another Canadian. I prefer to see our guys in different places. Not sure why.
