    • I would be surprised if it wasn't.  The return leg is part of the ST package for PFC. Edit:  My bad -- I'm wrong.  I thought it was, but I just checked my Centre Circle tickets and it's not.  Huh.
    • Joey Saputo has long been toxic to the club and the club won’t win until he’s gone. crazy how much soccer it went out the door. They easily could have been the Crew.
    • Man, if anyone thinks Canada Soccer is a risky move for a coach and general secretary, CFM seems downright suicidal at the moment.  Joey is just unhinged, the fabled born rich loose cannon.  You'd think finding success in Bologna and moving there would help him, but just seems to have pushed his arrogance and ego to another level.  Most rich families would have an entire PR company assigned to Joey to help protect the name, but he just doesn't care what the common folk think or say.  I know the Saputo's are huge in philanthropy, I guess it's their way of keeping the balance?  He's got good intentions and seems to make some good business/financial decisions, but can't seem to keep it chill.  I'd say his biggest business mistake was partnering with the city for the stadium.  The city is more crooked than the mob and it's clearly evident in that deal.  I can't think of any scenario aside from CFM eventually selling and leaving. How much longer can this model succeed if he continues firing at will?  Surely the candidates will run out?  No one will invest or partner up if he's sailing the ship, no one will buy and keep the team here considering the stadium deal.  Only hope would be the family stepping in and getting him therapy and medication.
    • https://canpl.ca/article/preview-york-united-vs-valour-fc-2024-match-16 "Valour will be without goalkeeper Jonathan Viscosi on Friday, who is expected to miss a few weeks after suffering an injury against Atlético Ottawa. Raphael Ohin is making progress, but Valour want to pick the right moment to add him back into the lineup, while Roberto Alarćon is also available again." -- not mentioned Samake (likely back) and Williams, Polisi (both almost certainly still out) "The Nine Stripes, meanwhile, were missing a number of players as they travelled out west to Pacific this past weekend. Orlando Botello has returned to training for the Nine Stripes this week, but Juan Córdova is still out."
    • The video posted is from Aug 2023 so he has been training with Di Stefani for a while.  He is a recent immigrant and a Winnipeg resident.  Plays on a local high school team I believe. Will ride the bench until Viscosi recovers.  Good experience for the youngster.  (edit: Valour is saying Viscosi is "expected to miss a few weeks")
    • Gnabry out for the year. Would be nice if they let Davies take his spot for the last few games.
    • I agree.  Had they called a penalty I would not have gotten all upset about it, given how things often go, but I think it was the right call.  As a defender myself, it's irritating when the ball takes a weird bounce to hit my arm and I get called for a penalty.  I can't take my arms off while I play and it's unreasonable to expect me to run around with my arms pinned to my sides - that's not a natural position.  This was similar.
    • There are a very large number of things in life where the government's investment can be debated.  Largely speaking, there are two broad categories in which one can question the usefulness or validity of that investment. First, there is the question of whether the government should be involved in that area of life.  There are only so many projects that the government can support, so should that support go to, say, sports or, say, a new airport. Second, there is the disconnect between investment and revenue.  If someone invests $10 million in a CPL stadium, maybe that brings $100 million in overall economic activity but only $2 million of that finds its way directly back to whoever put up the $10 million to begin with.  Is this a terrible investment that lost $8 million or a great one that made $90 million for the city?  No private person is going to lose the $8 million but maybe the government can because of the overall net benefit.
    • The final rosters are due on June 12
    • Game is at 7pm ET (6pm CT, 4pm PT) on One Soccer. Valour have 8 wins, 2 draws and 6 losses all time vs. York
