Does the MLS have a monopoly on this concept or was it taken and thought up of elsewhere? Would any other sport/league fan understand what any of this means? Watchmen
That actually feels like a bit of a bargain for the teams buying them. I remember them being traded for about $250k in GAM.

Watchmen
Brutal. Should have just continued to leave it up to teams. Allowed more roster flexibility for the Open Cup games if they wanted to change anything. ie Allow more call ups from the Next Pro rosters for Cup games. Big_M
barely any money from open cup for mls if any...and no team would choose to enter it when theres already regular season + leagues cup and for some champions league...but this is bad...all mls first teams should play in their national cup...hopefully we dont see the same thing from canadian mls teams

red card
This classic Friday afternoon MLS news dump reminds of Garber's commish origin story. While working for the NFL, he was at an owner's meeting in the laste 90s. New England owner Robert Kraft came over to Garber and asked, ‘What do you know about soccer?’ Garber: ‘Absolutely nothing. I hate soccer.’ Kraft: ‘You’d be a great commissioner.’ Olympique_de_Marseille and narduch

Unnamed Trialist
16 hours ago, masster said: In stadium VAR announcements are SOOO BAD!!!! Especially when the game has been living for decades with hand signals. Which are fairly simple and clear. There are only about 7 in total. I find most of the new rules to be silly. Except for letting clocks run after 90 minutes. 15 seconds to attend an injury is too short. If you or I accidently hit our head on an open cupboard door, or a thumb with a hammer, we may go down cursing, hurts like hell, and you stay down, or hold, until after the initial pain. Then, after a bit of time, but not less than 15 seconds, you can assess how bad it is. Very often you can continue, other times you can't. Forcing any player to get up before he knows if he has a serious or unserious knock is medically irresponsible. Same with changes. The ref automatically adds for changes, usually a minute. Why worry if a guy takes 10 or 17 seconds to leave the pitch? In any case, both rules, supposedly to speed things up, are often senseless. If a guy's team is losing, or wants a win instead of a tie, he has no reason to stay down on an injury, or leave the field slowly, unless he really has no choice. So you are going to punish the team behind, whose player legitimately can't get up and get going, and make them play even more time with less men? As someone stated here, this simply encourages players to look for sly ways to hurt opponents to get a sporting advantage. These are childish things people who are not used to the game obsess over.
