So why did they draft him this year and not wait till next year , he is still young

Do you mean, why was he in the draft this year as opposed to next year? I don't know.

The environment of FC Dallas is still far better for him than playing u20 SAAC soccer in Toronto.

Just got an email about him from the Fury communications team that they've signed him from Dallas.

He turns 18 in like a month why would he leave Dallas? Unless they told him he had no future. I hope Ottawa actually plays him and doesn't Meilleur-Giguere him.

Yeah, wouldn't a loan have made far more sense in the usual situation, right?

You would think it would be a loan, but if they were going to do that to wait out his 18th birthday, why wouldn't they have done it sooner in the year? Maybe from what they've seen in training they think he doesn't have what it takes at that level. Maybe this is a full on transfer.

I hope he really impresses in Ottawa and can take steps forward from there (joint leading scorer in CPL inaugural season, tied with Jordan Hamilton!)

FCD has an excellent academy. It's possible that they just didn't see the upside in Reid so cut him loose

FCD is stacked with young kids in their youth system. Even their HGs have hard time breaking into FCD first team at forward, and Dallas usually play lone striker

Agree with the possible rationale, but if that happened he would be placed on waivers and other MLS teams would get a chance to claim him before he got cut loose from MLS as he is contracted to the league like all MLS players under single entity. A loan seems more likely at this point.

Or could be a full transfer with Fury paying a fee

Maybe it's something as simple as being homesick.

Not a bad thing he needs to be playing.

agreed 100% he should be playing but its bad that he is not loaned out and released (as far as we know) considering he is costing the team nothing and is part of the new venture that is Generation Adidas Canada.

wondering if his release from MLS means his status as GA is over? and also does that mean if he signs with another mL team thats not one the 3 Canadian sides , he is still granted domestic status or considered International

Again, this is under the speculation that he no longer a member of FCD
