Soccerpro
Adonijah isn't eligible to play an MLS match for U.S team until his 18th birthday. Nor can he play for their USL affiliate until then. ironcub14
Offside
So why did they draft him this year and not wait till next year , he is still young

I don't know. The environment of FC Dallas is still far better for him than playing u20 SAAC soccer in Toronto.

Offside
why didn't he ever go to the tfc academy? I bet he's way better than a lot of kids there. Edited March 13, 2017 by Offside

He turns 18 in like a month why would he leave Dallas? Unless they told him he had no future. I hope Ottawa actually plays him and doesn't Meilleur-Giguere him. ironcub14

jpg75
This has to be a loan. He's a GA, he doesn't cost FCD anything (cap or real money).
Kent
You would think it would be a loan, but if they were going to do that to wait out his 18th birthday, why wouldn't they have done it sooner in the year? Maybe from what they've seen in training they think he doesn't have what it takes at that level. Maybe this is a full on transfer. I hope he really impresses in Ottawa and can take steps forward from there (joint leading scorer in CPL inaugural season, tied with Jordan Hamilton!) shamrock
Cool. I don't really see a downside, only that the 'Canadian GA" experiment thus far has failed. Hope to see him get back on track cause he is an exciting prospect.
Floortom
FCD has an excellent academy. It's possible that they just didn't see the upside in Reid so cut him loose
Yohan
http://www.ottawafuryfc.com/news_article/show/811261?referrer_id=2824815 Fury release. No mention of a loan
BringBackTheBlizzard
Agree with the possible rationale, but if that happened he would be placed on waivers and other MLS teams would get a chance to claim him before he got cut loose from MLS as he is contracted to the league like all MLS players under single entity. A loan seems more likely at this point. jpg75, maccaliam and Gian-Luca

BringBackTheBlizzard
He is still listed on the FC Dallas roster on the official FC Dallas website: https://www.fcdallas.com/players/adonijah-reid I suspect that's where we will get the answer on whether he has been loaned or is no longer affiliated with them.
