Keegan
You (like everyone else) should know this by now. That's why I laugh at reading MLS rule book and don't take it seriously. You guys are all "conspiracy" theorists lol lol lol

gigi riva
Well looks like Chapman will be a TFC player according to the RPB forums. But I will believe it when I see it. Edited January 3, 2015 by gigi riva
Yohan
I know this thread is about Chapman, but that article says that Cyle Larin is holding out from MLS offers because of European interest, most notably an unamed EPL club. linked to Aston Villa and Sunderland and in negotiation with TFC
lazlo_80
apparently Swansea has joined in the pursuit of Chapman according to this rumors article. Take with a grain of salt, folks. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfers/11323037/Transfer-rumours-LA-Galaxy-offer-20m-to-lure-Steven-Gerrard-to-US.html
Blackdude
Obviously true, but just because MLS lies all the time doesn't mean it isn't worth pointing them out. If they couldn't make rules up, how can they allow third party ownership if FIFA says that it's bad 'mkay?
Dub Narcotic
I think a lot of agents are spinning like crazy. If there were solid EPL offers on the table, why haven't Larin and Chapman signed them?

If there were solid EPL offers on the table, why haven't Larin and Chapman signed them? you get better chance of first team mins with MLS. unless you're an amazing standout, hard to break into first team EPL where a manager is more likely to spend to fill a deficiency than give a young player a chance. also, why rush if multiple teams are interested? drive up the demand and sign for even better money. at least, that's what a good agent does

Dub Narcotic
Has there been any actual case of a NCAA college player turning down an EPL offer for a MLS one? I would think the agents are turning down EPL try-out or youth team offers along with first team offers from lower-tier European leagues while exaggerating and leaking the extent of the offers to drive up what MLS is offering. Grizzly
If they couldn't make rules up, how can they allow third party ownership if FIFA says that it's bad 'mkay? To be fair to MLS while I agree that they loosely interpret their own rules to suit their present needs and also make things up as they go along, they could have no better model for this than FIFA who not only break their own rules but also the laws of most of the countries they operate in. davey_twelve
2 pages and yet very little said about Chapman as a player. Anyone see him play much? If he does in fact suit up for TFC I'm curious as to where/how he'll fit in.

Soccerpro
He has good technique. Good dribbler and passer. It would be wise to let him play the season in uslpro. I like him more than lazy Kyle Bekker.
Levi Oakey
He played for KW United all summer. Here is a highlight video from last year. This year, he seemed to have a greater tendency to get into the box. Who was an important player for us. He is solid all around really, but no particular skill stands out. His first summer he tended to take alot of players on, but in the second summer he was much more of a goal threat.

baulderdash77
His father is English. Good pickup for Toronto. He's a good natural CM. In his rookie year I expect that he's going to play mostly in USLPro but he should get a lot of minutes for them.
toontownman
Talking about him being back up for Bradley. Reckon he will definately get some minutes this year. Will be interesting to see if Floro brings him in for any training caps. Was he too old for under 20's and is he likely to figure with the under 23's? Seems fair. Never struck me as having the athleticism to play centrally in MLS. He can carve out a niche as an attacking wide-player capable of filling in as a second striker in a pinch IMO.
