  1. Pacific officially partners with Sooke School District soccer academies.
  2. That's an impressive stat for Osorio as he's not the type of player constantly caught out of position or noticeably trying to cover a lot of distance. He's quietly having another good season while other players grab the headlines - essentially the bass player in a good band.
  3. He's definitely played a part in other goals. I think there were one or two assists denied to him because an opponent touched the ball.
  4. Overall the officiating still has a ways to go as there were some really odd (non) calls this tournament. As far as the Pacific PKs go I think they're more about bad defending than bad refs. Of the 5 I recall, 3 were bad decisions for going into tackles (Haynes, Samake, Chung), 1 was a sloppy first touch (Wirth) and it's only the MacNaughton one that's hard to be critical of as the forward slips in at the last second to get to the ball first. The good news is that most young defenders only need to make those mistakes once or twice before it's out of their system.
  5. Young and Dixon have to offer more in the build-up. Way too easy for Forge to keep Pacific in their own half.
  6. I agree on Hojabrpour, I think he showed a lot of growth over the course of last season. He's really close to Baldisimo but MB is obviously preferred by the current coaches. Baldisimo is also essentially the 3rd CB so I can see why more time is invested in him.
  7. Pacific starting what I think is their best IX, which has happened like once this year. They need to get a good lead early as Forge has a much better bench. Yes, no penalties please. Hoping for a great game.
  8. Makes for an interesting read when you skip over the date! Saw Marco Bustos, Hanson Boakai, Victor Blasco, Alphonso Davies and Noah Verhoeven compared in the same paragraph. Just goes to show how difficult it can be to predict the trajectory of young players (Granted, some of them are far enough apart in age).
  9. I agree. I thought he'd be a similar player to Noah Verhoeven but I think Young can over quite a bit more.
  10. Three starters on the bench for Pacific. Seems risky for a game you need to win.
  11. Ottawa seems to rely pretty heavily on Acuna. This will be a good test for Pacific's midfield 3. Pacific's attack has been looking good lately. I hope Chung and De Jong are both good to go.
  12. 4 games in. What do you think of 2020 Pacific? Is Kah an upgrade on Silberbauer? How are the Fury acquisitions doing? Is Campbell gonna start scoring?
  13. As much as we may want these discussions to be focused on what players are doing on the field, off-field actions are worth considering as well. MAK is currently one of the captains of LAFC and in most cases a player achieves this through their leadership, integrity and work ethic. From a purely practical perspective a talented national team filled with players who only look out for themselves and get themselves into trouble off the field will not perform as well as a less talented team that is focused and cohesive.
  14. Pacific looking really good for a couple stretches there. Would be nice to see less crossing though in open play, none of the front three are over 5'9".
  15. Not a good outing for him tonight unfortunately. Playing against a low block team with minimal pressure is an ideal scenario.
  16. Sounds like both teams didn't start with their best 11 in the first game. Important decisions for both coaches before kick-off, should be an interesting one...
  17. Anyone have a comprehensive list yet of where all the Canadians in MLS are playing? Last year there were Canadians getting minutes on 8 teams but I think there's more than that this year.
  18. I'm excited to have a healthy De Jong but Blake Smith quietly had a really good season last year. De Jong isn't coming in to replace a weak area. Younger players have the most room to grow from one season to the next so it's really hard to predict what kind of team Pacific turns up with in April. Anyone know what to expect from Kah in terms of style of play? Silverbauer definitely had a distinct approach...
  19. Didn't see too much of Legault but he seemed to struggle with staying disciplined - being caught out of position and taking unnecessary fouls. I think he finished with the second most cautions even though he barely played. Hernandez was pretty good, especially in the first half of the season before he was injured. Out on the wing is probably where Pacific is strongest so it might be best for him to move on.
  20. Ouch! Defence could be an even bigger problem next year. I figured Smith would be gone but he'll be missed. He had a really good season here.
