Five reasons why Atiba Hutchinson should coach the CMNT:

1) He's Canadian.

2) He knows the players.

3) He knows our CONCACAF opponents.

4) He understands the current limitations of the CSA.

5) He is the perfect ambassador for the Canadian game.

Reasons why he shouldn't:

Everything that comes after number 5.

One day maybe though. I think he will stick around in Turkey and continue on in some capacity there. He seems settled there.

If it wasn't for number 5, I could be the CMNT head coach!

I think you forgot about the number one criteria for coaching the national team. The person should, you know, have coaching experience.

Did that number one criteria apply to John Herdman?

Off the top of my head, John Herdman coached in a youth pro academy in England (Sunderland maybe? I forget where), then he coached the New Zealand women's national team, then he coached the Canadian women's national team. So yes, he had coaching experience.

I was thinking at least one of the MLS teams would want to grab him quick.

The CPL would also be an option if he wanted to stay home.  That's what CPL is there for.  He'd also likely get a little more autonomy than anywhere else.

One of the biggest challenges for soccer in this country is developing young quality coaches.

Put it this way: If John Herdman and Atiba Hutchinson applied for the position of head coach for the CMNT at the same time, with the following CVs, who would you hire based on their respective experienceS?

Herdman

1) 2006-2011 - New Zealand women's team

2) 2011-2018 - Canada women's team

Hutchinson

1) 2002-2003 - Toronto Lynx

2) 2003-2004 - Oster

3) 2004-2006 - Helsingborg

4) 2006-2010 - Copenhagen

5) 2010-2013 - PSV

6) 2013-2023 - Besiktas

7) 2001-2003 - Canada U20

😎 2002-2004 - Canada U23

9) 2003-2023 - Canada

This is too dumb to respond to.
