Great idea. We should start a campaign to honey dick this guy into playing for Canada. In fact we should be honey dicking all the fence sitters; send them V's swag, make a banner geared to them and take group shots with it at games, start twitter campaign etc.

I thought it would be more funny for us in V's land, than an actual attempt to persuade him.

Nothings funny when you're intentions are 100% serious.

Edit: To clarify I think what you said was a joke, the feller after seemed quite serious,  but I could be humbly wrong.

Need start the priority (current players) before the secondary (fence sitters) quiet frankly. And I haven't seen it done.

I.E. Someone just had a kid - we should send them a shirt or jersey something. Borjan's getting married - we should send him something in congrats.

I'm a man who lives by "E=MC2", and beside theory of relativity I translate it to my day-to-day living. In whatever I do it has to equal to something positive, regardless if it doesn't look right or make quiet sense at the time.

Sending a bunch of shit to a current CMNT player, they receive love, and more times then not shows signs of gratitude, and allegiance through their play.

Sending shit to a fence sitter, who in the end reps the shit and plays for another country...equals to a waste of shit.

Hey it doesnt have to be an either/or prop. is all i'm saying. And no one's stopping you from reaching out to our current players on your own either. Some V's have written or sent stuff ( xmas cards, V's shirts etc.) to players and typically get signed jerseys back in return.

I figured as much, but when i saw that hashtag it gave me the idea that maybe a targeted campaign would help. Anyways seems like some people don't like the idea, which is their perogative, i'll see if anyone wants to join me..send me a PM if anyone else is interested.

Seriously did he start following Canada on twitter recently?

Not sure when, but indeed he does. For what it's worth,  he also follows the Italian FA as well.

He also follows Drake, perhaps MLSE can put in a word to Drake and send Bryan a message/swag....

Italy's U21 squad has been released; Cristante has not been called.

It has begun.... #waitfortmrw   ...IT'S ON!

pre-edit: yeah not really.

These things can take a mental toll though and if there is any small amount of possible fence sitting, the small rejections can build in our favor the more it happens.

He has said he's a huge Drake fan, I want to send him a red OVO hat on behalf of the V's.

Just an update, seems like Cristante's club futbol career is hitting an all time low, as he hasn't been able to get any minutes as of late at his loan club Palermo . Also, reports indicate that the clubs bench boss no longer sees his potential. Could this mean that a Canada call up is more likely to happen.

I find it on some level pretty funny that "career low" means that a Canada NT call is in the future.

Well i mean he was born and raised in Italy so its not like he would choose Canada if he was good enough for the Italian national team

It's weird to hope for a career lull, but let's all be serious, he would still be an interesting option to look at for us.  Besides, we aren't alone in this regard, take Jermaine Jones as just 1 example off the top of my head.  If his career had gone even just slightly better, he wouldn't have all those caps for the US.

Rumours out of Italy are that Palermo will not invoke the buyout clause of the contract and he will be back at Benfica in the summer.

To recap his loan to Palermo so far:

Jan 10th: Subbed in at the 89th minutehttp://www.legaseriea.it/it/serie-a-tim/match-report/2015-16/UNICO/UNI/19/VERPAL
January 17th: Started. Subbed off at the 69th minutehttp://www.legaseriea.it/it/serie-a-tim/match-report/2015-16/UNICO/UNI/20/GENPAL
January 30th: Subbed in at the 69thhttp://www.legaseriea.it/it/serie-a-tim/match-report/2015-16/UNICO/UNI/22/CARPAL
February 7th: Subbed in at the 91sthttp://www.legaseriea.it/it/serie-a-tim/match-report/2015-16/UNICO/UNI/24/SASPAL

So over 13 games he has played under 98 minutes I'd guess. Just about 1 game's worth and nothing in the last two months. Palermo has 7 games left to play in Serie A.

This doesn't tell us anything new; just an opinion piece that's not even correct. The guy says "sans aucune titularisation" which is false because he was a starter (albeit only one game).
