After joining America de Cali from AC Oulu at the end of 2014, David Monsalve has been released from the Colombian side before the second half of the 2015 season.

Some bad luck for Monsalve recently.  

 

In March, after America's #1 keeper got injured, Monsalve won the job.  This happened just as he got called up by Floro in March, which he turned down.  Then, unbelievably, Monsalve got injured as well.  Next thing you know there's a coaching change and he is released.

 

Hope he catches on somewhere else soon.

Monsalve received an invitation to the Canadian National Team managed by Spaniard Benito Floro for friendlies against Guatemala and Puerto Rico March 27 and 30th.  

"Representing your country is an honour and not being able to go is difficult.  I dream of playing for a big club in Colombia, and its an honour being with America, representing Canadian soccer in Colombia".

So uh, Monsalve and his teammates aren't being paid on time. Looks like they haven't received payments for March or April.

I would think Monsalve is looking forward to the CPL more than we are.  He's a prime example of a player who would benefit from the new league.  Hopefully he won't hang up the boots before it starts.

Brutal, obviously. The onus to get a contract honoured shouldn't be on the players. This is what federations are for. FIFA and CONCACAF should step in right away on their behalf. I know this happens a lot but it's bush league and needs to be weeded out.

Looks like Monsalve is now with Vaughan Azzurri in League1 Ontario. I know he's been very vocal about his support for CPL. Would have to think he's a likely CPL pick up when the league kicks off.

Mix of personal and professional decision to return to Canada.

David was one of the highest rated keepers in the Swedish third tier. 

Needs to stay fit for remainer of 2017. Expect to sign in CPL or else where for 2018.

The CSL thing was before he played with TFC if I remember correctly. As far as I know he isn't playing anywhere now. I believe it's correct that he started a GK clinic or academy or something.

Just confirmed with this article. He had asked Preki to loan him to Serbian White Eagles in CSL

Ok so first 40 minutes is talking about his past.  Then it goes into the usual TFC recap and preview.  Last 35 minutes it's going into the CPL talk and his goalkeeper academy.
