Didn't they finish 2nd in the Conference once?

Or am I imaging things?

Yes, and couldn't have gone out much more meekly in the playoffs.  0 goals scored against Portland over two legs while never looking like they were going to win it. Went in to Portland for a Saturday night game after Portland had to play midweek, and Robinson had them bunker and never attack. It was brutal.

Yep, that was pretty bad.

2 years later was actually worse, because he openly said the lesson he learned from the Portland game was "a 0-0 draw at home in the first leg is good, and we'll go down to Seattle and get a result." But this ignored that Dempsey was suspended for the first leg and Seattle's attack was blunted, but that he'd be back for the second leg. So he should have been out on the attack at home, so that he could then play more conservatively on the road when Seattle would be stronger.  In other words, Robinson got his tactics for both years completely backwards.

I remember in the road leg Nerwinski getting lit up like a Roman candle defending 1 v 1 against the attacking forays of the hard running LB Nouhou Tolo and then getting subbed before the half by Jordan Harvey who managed to get a better handle on the sitiation.

Power trip?  Didn't he allude to murdering the referee?

No. He jokingly said if the referee was found floating in False Creek that he'd be the first suspect. Anyone who's heard the clip can see it's a clear joke.

Most of the suspended is for his extremely poor on field behavior, and the suspension for that is proven valid.

That isn't something to "joke" about as a coach and my humour is very open.

Could always be easily misinterpreted.

1) Have you heard the clip?

2) It wasn't intended for you, or the public. He was jokingly saying it to  a group of reporters he knew, thinking the interviews hadn't started yet. One of them accidentally thought it was on the record, and posted it as the joke that it was.

And he came back on the field after being kicked out, and he verbally abused the ref, and he was kicking and smashing things, and following that the fans seemed encouraged to throw things at the ref, and he continued to berate the ref in post game interviews, and he genuinely seemed unhinged and very co confused in post game interviews, and he tried to violate league dress code, and he was never even really able to articulate what specifically he felt so upset about except for a pk that occurred way before he got kicked out
