Match Thread: April 15, 2023 - Forge v Cavalry

Recommended Posts

Just home from the match, it certainly was entertaining and the wonderful weather helped in bringing in a great crowd, as has been noted both teams 2nd goals were excellent! We thought it should have been a red on the penalty but we were at the far end and it was hard to tell, Cavalry had a good bit of the play with Forge choosing to counter, Escalante at LB, wtf?

6800ish

If only around a quarter of a 24000 capacity stadium was being used (upper tiers not used on both sides as well as the lower tier on the camera side AFAIA), the majority of the actively used seating was easily visible on the Onesoccer stream. They appeared to be closer to half full rather than near capacity as the announced number would appear to imply.

If they distributed 6800 tickets, there must have been a lot of no shows if they were only using the mezzanine level on the camera side in other words. Compare and contrast with the Pacific game where most of the seats are clearly actually being used and there a lot of people standing at the barriers and on concourses.

One game.....one game into the season and it starts............... "I saw some crowd shots of part the stadium and I say it was half of the announced attendance".

There were probably more people at the Forge or Ottawa games than at the NYRB game yesterday. Despite the announced attendance

This pretty much confirms that only the mezzanine and corporate boxes were in use on Saturday on the camera side:

so for 6800 to match the actual attendance rather than being a generously announced tickets distributed number (cue somebody posting something about MLS like I am supposed to be oblivious to the way teams in other leagues do this sort of thing as well for PR related reasons) the seats you see in the active sections on the far side from the vantage point of the Onesoccer stream have to be close to all full.

And?  Say you're right.  So fucking what?

It all comes back to him hating the league because it didn't involve TFC's reserve team and didn't link up with the USSF.

Nevermind the fact that Forge have 20% more season ticket holders this season. Don't think he has made a single comment on that yet. Maybe he thinks they are lying about that too

He posts articles about the league to help hide the fact that he hates it so much

Pathetic as usual.

Stop talking reason when your position is the most irrational again and again. You have this preconceived notion you apply like some conspiracy theorist whe sees every shred of information in his favour. You try to foist your self-fulfilling prophecies on objective evidence. And nothing of what you say can be tested.

You're the board's master of irrational argumentation.

Announced attendance is the first piece of data. Those who go to games are in a position to judge the accuracy. There's no logical reason to falsify that.

In any case, the whole rationale is ignorant. If you inflate paid attendance then you are admitting revenue that could then be subject to taxation and would go against expenditures in your accounting. If anything, if you are claiming losses, which all CPL clubs and CSB are avowedly doing, you should deflate income sources to favour your accounting, taxes and even your bargaining position before players and club employees.

Sorry to interrupt your flat earth society meeting, go on.

I don't even understand his argument that they are inflating the numbers for PR reasons.

You aren't creating a false sense of scarcity by announcing 6900 people attending a game at your 20k+ stadium.

His entire premise is ludicrous
