Who are your 26? (Going to Qatar)

It’s a 26 long list, why are you guys seeking for versatility?

This is actually a great point. If 20 guys are versatile, surely 6 don’t have to be right?!

I think Im guilty of  over stating this. We aren’t in qualification/pandemic mode anymore.

I’m not seeking versatility. I’m just pointing out that we have a lot of players capable of playing fullback, and it makes Edwards a bit redundant. Not that I’d be mad if we brought him or anything, I just don’t think it’s really necessary since we already have cover there and there are other players that I think are more likely for us to bring.

I need to see the video of them justifying Koleosho over Millar. Literally the only reason to select him right now would be to secure his commitment, which is not a good reason. Were they choosing their personal squad, or their prediction? If it was their personal opinion then it strikes me as preemptive propaganda for when Herdman chooses Koleosho (guess I'm the one being conspiratorial now)

Re: Koloesho, it's not a selection right now, it's a selection in five months, and both the panel and Herdman said that if he kicks on and is getting first team minutes, then he absolutely warrants selection. Honestly I wouldn't be opposed to giving him a spot just to secure his commitment. Fuck it, we have the dangling carrot now, we might as well use it.

Thank you. So it is their opinion, and they couch it a little, but I am surprised they would say something like "a player with that potential". How much have they truly watched him? I'll stick with my wild conspiracy for now. I just find it totally wacky that a kid with zero senior minutes is getting chosen over a guy who has been part of the set up for a little while now and just finished a very successful season in Switzerland. I'm not sure what Oli and KJ are reasonably expecting Koleosho to achieve in 5 months that merits inclusion. I mean, I hope he comes a starter at Espanyol and plays well before November but what the heck are the chances of that at this point?

I think if the kid makes the big team and is playing regularly give him a shot, otherwise Millar deserves the spot and I think it sends a bad message if he isn't chosen, although it is supposedly understood by the "brotherhood" that nothing is guaranteed.

Frankly, aside from my early high opinion of Ugbo and Kone, unless they are club regulars playing well, I don't know about them being included.  Nobody is saying much about Brym, who has performed well.

I think that your first 23 will be:

GK - Borjan, Crepeau, St. Clair

CB -  Vitoria, Miller, Kennedy, Henry

WB - Lareya, Johnston, Adekugbe

LM - Davies, Millar     RM - Buchannon, Hoillett

CM - Hutchinson, Osorio, Kaye, Eustaquio

FW - Ugbo, Larin, Cavallini, David

For the final 3 slots I would have to say that they would have to consider another CB and another CM just based on Vitoria and Hutchinsons age/fitness levels and the potential schedule of playing games every couple of days.

So i would say Cornelius would get in despite him being a LCB, and then one of Fraser or Peitite. Personally speaking, i really like Fraser and Im curious how he will play in Belgium this year but my thinking is that Herdman will prefer Peitite. For the 26th spot, you'd then have to go for an attacking player and my guess at the moment that would likely be Brym based on the camp rosters of late but would likely be Akinola once he gets his match fitness back. BUt that final slot could easily be whatever player they dont select between Fraser and Peitite. I would say that if Wotherspoon is back from injury he will take a spot as well.

Id certainly put my money on another player emerging before next November weather that is a young player like Nelson, Kone, Priso, Petrasso, or an older player like Edwards, Waterman, or Brault-Guillaird earning a call up and earning a spot.

I count only 22 here.  Is it safe to assume that Cornelius is your 23 pick?

Instead changes I would make to my 26 man squad for Qatar

GK- Borjan, Crepeau, St Clair (3)

CB- Vitoria, Kennedy, Miller, MacNaughton (4)

LB- Adekugbe, Petrasso (2)

RB- Laryea, Johnston (2)

CDM- Hutchinson, Eustaquio, Osorio, Kaye, Piette, Kone (6)

LW- Davies, Millar (2)

RW- Buchanan, Hoilett, Edwards (3)

CF- David, Larin, Ugbo, Cavallini (4)

That would make up my 26 players for Qatar with the additions to the team being MacNaughton, Petrasso, Edwards and Kone who would make their tournament debut by being at the World Cup in Qatar in November

Assuming we are able to take 26 players

David can play as attacking mid but he is a classy 9 like Kun Aguero.  I Take Larín and Cavallini the tango boy, 3 strikers

Hutchinson as defender then midfield we have  piette teibert choiniere osorio Paton to create the beauty,  and Alphonso Buchanan pasher and Liam Miller to the one on one dribblers

Amazing squad , plus 3rd gk must be old gloves.  Best regards

I've struggled with this topic. Looking at the 60-man provisional roster, it's really difficult to pick 26 when you truly reflect on the quality that many, many of these players bring.

It's easy to go with the same 26 guys we're familiar with - and there are locks without question - but I am really looking forward to seeing how the rest of them grow. Shaffelburg, for instance, is a very intriguing player for me. Got to see him live at Saputo Stadium when he was just breaking out onto the scene pre-COVID and was impressed. ZBG, another one named here, was also on hand for that game and was equally impressive.

Without getting into too many details for the risk of starting an argument, I am highly optimistic about the 26 who get selected in addition to the supporting cast.
