What the ****? Really?

Yup, this was happening all night. I got kicked out of my seat along with friends in 114 and I know at least 2 other groups of people who were forced to leave their seats. I told the usher he was a joke and to pay attention next time but I wasn't about to make a huge deal as the people who were moving in were with 10 year olds and even apologized themselves. I told them it wasn't their fault (they had just been kicked out of seats themselves and were moving to the ticketed seats!) just incompetent staff... I mean is it really that complicated of a job? Props to the fans behind me who tried to reason with security. So basically a large portion of the first half was disrupted in the stands by security and fans arguing.

^ Credit where credit is due, the staff who dealt with the guys who tried to kick us out of where we were standing in 113 were good. When they complained the usher came up and said for all of us to stand wherever we want, it's cool, so no one had to worry about going anywhere.

Yep, I was in there as well. 6 girls, I think one wearing red. My guess is someone else got them tickets (maybe a V?) and didn't explain to them that it's general admission. I tried but they used the security guard to get in (don't blame him, I know they have different rules)

Maybe this is a negative to being a hot ticket in town now?

^ there seemed to be quite a few people who didn't know it was open seating... perhaps we need to somehow ensure that is clear (for all fans and ushers) for next match so as to avoid some of these negative moments a few fans experienced.

Besides that though, what an amazing night!

First ever game, flew in from Winnipeg. Loved it, have got the bug to go to more now! I was in 122, Row 3, right behind the Panama bench. An awesome seat and a great place to watch the game. First thing I noticed - the guys are a lot bigger than they look on TV (except maybe Julian). And the game seemed much faster. I have a whole new respect for the athleticism of the players now. The south stands were amazing to see, but the sound from their chants doesn't really carry that well over to the west side. I heard a lot of the Panama drummer from the north stands, and respect to them, they had quite a contingent out.

We had a few local Panamanians in our section (not wearing colours) who seemed very annoyed that we were a bit rude to their team. A few were really giving it to 19 after that fake injury and they keep looking over and glaring anytime anyone said anything remotely negative about Panama or their players. I had to laugh - what do you expect at a Canada home game?

Anyway, although I don't really like Julian's play of late, I have to say, I think he did an amazing defensive job closing out the midfield. I still get frustrated every time he gets the ball and his first look is always to turn backward and look to his backfield. Still, he really played a great defensive game, so I have to give him credit for that. And Simeon really worked, but for some reason, most of the play goes left (the DeRo influence) and numerous opportunities to play him into space down the wing were missed. Atiba had a great game, obviously, and the back four played collectively a strong game, although a few gaffs made for some nervous moments, but they recovered fairly well, and of course, ruled the air.

Awesome experience all around! For any fan who has never been to a game, take it from this first timer, it is really really worth the time and expense to go and experience it live. I'm hooked now.

Didn't see it for this match but in the Honduras, some guys who came in late thought it was assigned seating and asked a couple in front us in 114 to leave.

So, any Voyageur who is handing off tickets should make them fully aware it is general admin. Maybe we need to get the CSA to tell BMO staff what the seating arrangements are.

By the way, I loved whoever put the Avec Quebec tous ensemble 2014 sign in section 117-18.

I've already had friends texting me asking when the next home match is. Sadly Oct 12 seems to be too soon for most of them to put anything together (especially flights) but if we make the Hex (pray!) I'm sure they'll be game for planning for some of those.

And there you have it folks, a testimonial from a real (newly converted) fan who has tasted the soup. No actors were used in this promotion.

Loved the part about what would these Panamaniam fans expect at our home game, lol. I hope they got back the stink eye when they were glaring at others in the crowd.

It always makes me laugh when people act like they were doing nothing and were singled out for "over supporting" in hopes that no one will ever call them out on their crap.

You couldn't handle your flag. Your flag was too big in length, thickness, and tied to a piece of wood. All these factors made the equivalent of someone spinning a towel over their head. You didn't have the strength to keep it up as it immediately started dropping lower and lower as soon as you picked it up. This resulted in you hitting everyone in the face 3 rows forward and back every single time you waved your flag every 30 seconds. There were at least 2 people around you who covered their face in pain after being hit directly in the eye ball. You were completely oblivious to it all. Still, people put up with your crap. After repeatedly hitting a gentleman in the face every time you swung, he kindly said to you "Hey, higher" and you and your buddy got on the defensive responding with "What? Are you from Panama?". The gentleman was with is father who was clearly an immigrant as his English was rough and spoke Spanish. Ironically, they were there supporting Canada. "You're not Canadian are you?" you and your friend asked over and over making the gentleman uncomfortable. "You're not from here". Then you proceeded to yell "f*ck, South Americans". Finally, after putting up with your crap for nearly the whole game, someone grabbed your flag after it repeatedly smacked them in the face after it was clear your teen noodle arms weren't capable of properly swinging a flag. He said to you "i'm trying to watch the game and you keep smacking me in the face with your flag" in which you responded "you should be honored to smacked in the face with my flag". The people behind you had also had enough as when you and your flag buddy sat down, you both left your wooden sticks up verticallyfeet above your head, blocking their view of the entire match.

This wasn't a flag waving issue, it's a you're a huge prick issue. The people around you started off by being overly reasonable with you. You are not in a supporters section. Flags big enough to obstruct rows of people are not permitted especially on a wooden stick as it's a security issue. If that was someone from the South End, you would never had made it into the building with your wood stick. No one needed to be reasonable with you and they could have just reported you to security, but they were surprisingly patient. Instead, you stuck out clearly as an obnoxious out of towner who couldn't be reasoned with and responded to reasoning with ignorant attitude and prejudice overtones. It's morons like you who ruin it for everyone else who are considerate with their tifo in non supporting sections.

If this is true I'm ****ing disgusted with the response to the people complaining about the flag. Canada is a diverse and multicultural country, and we need to embrace what makes Canada great, not turn into ultra right wing supporters. We are all immigrants or sons of immigrants at some point, and almost all of our players are of the same makeup, don't be so quick to jump down someones throat just because they have an accent and have some understanding if your waving a big ass flag around in a non supporters section.

I just watched the broadcast of the game and I have to say, I can't believe we didn't net one in the first half. Also, how on earth did that Panamanian miss that one chance in the second half? We were lucky on that one. Ricketts caused so many problems for the Panamanian defense with his speed, I am sure he will start down there simply to run their defenders down the right wing. I also think Simeon should be given the start as the central striker rather than on the wing, he had a few runs in the center of the pitch that were excellent and created numerous fouls for us.

I hope we are able to defend like hell down there. It'll probably be worse than in Cuba, temperature-wise, so I have no expectations, and will be thrilled with any kind of result.

****ing out-of-towners ruin it for everyone.

Let me rephrase this. Lets act classy as a guest and not show up to one of the most multicultural cities in the world and badger its people in a nationality debate to the point of uncomfortableness in a situation that didn't warrant it. Toronto is willing to open their arms to anyone who respects this country, especially anyone who shows up to support the maple leaf (apparent by their red Toronto shirts). The desire to make ones trip memorable isn't a free pass to act like a jerk to those around you who paid their earned money to attend. They don't owe you a good time at their expense. Soccer games are not a free pass to air out your ethnic discrimination. "F*ck South Americans" is not a normal thing to yell out in this city immediately after bullying someone over nationality who may look South American. He can take this crap back to wherever he came from. It's not welcome here. No one minding their own business should feel uncomfortable with who they are. Especially not in this city, nor should it be happening anywhere else. They didn't provoke anyone and treated him with respect even though he was carelessly whipping them in the face and eyes the entire night. Canadians don't need to stoop to these kind of levels.

Then the nerve for this jerk to come here and act like people were annoyed because he wanted to simply wave his flag.

But playing both Simeon and Ricketts means that Occean would not start I assume? I don't think that's an option ... OO has to start, especially in a game where we'll be playing quite a bit of defense and we want to hold possession as much as possible. Plus, OO off the bench seems to make less sense than bringing on one of Jackson, Ricketts with their speed.

Finally got around to downloading and watching the game - what a match! I was a total nervous wreck all the way through. Great result and great home crowd. Jamie, I caught a glimpse of you in the crowd towards the end with a big smile on your face! You deserve it bud, glad to see all your hard work paid off.

That's ****ing disgusting behaviour. Football is not an excuse to be a prick or a racist and this is the kind of **** that will ruin everything if left unchecked.

Who ever is in charge of the MASSIVE V's flag (btw i love that thing, along with the other massive checkered flag) PLEASE get it up and waving. As the game starts, before half, as the 2nd half starts, the 90th min, after the game when the players come over....no point of just holding it over the rail.

What a night, still cant get over it...so proud of our canadian footy

Yes, that is messed up and it bugs me on a couple levels.

The first, and me probably missing the point, is just some common canadian sense; I consider adult immigrants pretty much fully canadian when they've been here near a decade (that might even be harsh, legally it's like 5 years), and anyone with experience knows language skills vary quite a bit, so after ten years some immigrants have minimal accents or even hugely thick accents, either way, their equally Canadian, one just gets around quicker and the other occasionally has to deal with this ****. I don't think I should have to tell people this but their just isn't any way to know who's what till they put on a jersey or you have a conversation and yelling anything different it public makes you look like a boob (and us when you have a Canada jersey on).

And the serious bit, don't pick on immigrants, I had an emotional seizure the other day because I felt like people were just being cruel to a CSN writer, how do you think I will react to douche baggery towards a vulnerable part of our society (I know the guy were talking about is probably fine but we do have to look out for brand new immigrants)? My suggestion is in the future, if you hear that, try and yell out (it's easier for me I know) 'Don't be a racist/bigoted/xenophobic/anticarebear douche bag, your making us look like hillbillies'. That should put him off balance without starting a fight.

I know this is coming a little late. But holy **** we just beat Panama. I honestly still can't believe that three games into the round we are in FIRST PLACE with 7 points out of 9. That moment when DeRosario scored is without a doubt the best moment I've ever had watching Canadian soccer. Also we rocked the house from that moment until we left the stadium about 20 minutes after the final whistle. Just ridiculous. It was clear the players every as pumped as we were too from the reaction, McKenna in particular was going crazy at the final whistle.

It was great seeing everyone again and congrats to everyone who showed up on making that atmosphere the best I've ever seen at BMO (TFC guys correct me if you've ever seen a better one for a club game, but for the national team game that definitely tops them all). As for the actual gameplay I'm going to have to watch the game again tonight, but from being there I thought we looked very good in the first half had our usual lull for the first 15 minutes of the second and then finished strong. Also Atiba is a beast.

Wow, that's rude honestly if the guy waving the flag, was into it and not noticing he was hitting people, I would've said something too. If anybody got a flag into my face, whether local or away support, believe me, I wouldn't back down and punch the guy and probably get escorted by security guards outside the game. Also, being racist like that, has no business in Canada. If anybody ever told me something derogatory about my South American heritage, bet your ass I'll take you down wiht me to jail, won't be the first time for me. That being said, I think you Voyageurs, should tell the CSA, TFC or and whoever else that designates the seating capacity to tell any non-partisan crowds that the rowdy supporters sit here? In WCQ in Peru, the North and South end of the stadium are designated as "CASUAL FANS BEWARE" as the hardcore Ultras sit there and chant and march and whatnot and even mug you, if you're all alone without a group of people.
