Draw was this morning. Canada is in a group with Honduras, Dominican and El Salvador. Should be a very competitive, but also winnable group. Probably the best we could have hoped for being a pot 4 team.18 points -

Didn't see it but Inter fans in the PGT on reddit are saying he played well in the short amount of time he was on. Did more than Dumfries did all game and a lot want to see him start. I haven't seen one second of him with Inter aside from highlights of his first appearance yet but it sounds like he's doing all he can with the limited minutes he's been given.18 points

Came on in 81' with the score 1-1 but Inter totally dominant. Had a couple shots blocked in the box. Inter ended up scoring in the 90'+5 to win it.17 points -

It's taken 2 years but one more article actually saying what people on this forum already know but rarely mentioned elsewhere. ..Mediapro may not have done as much for grassroots Canadian soccer as it had hoped, but it’s certainly done more than any Canadian broadcaster. Before it launched OneSoccer in 2019, there were generally two ways that Canadians could watch their men’s or women’s national teams: Either Canada Soccer could pay a hefty fee to a broadcaster to produce and air the games, or fans could search the internet for low-quality pirated foreign streams. Still, not everyone shared that vision.....So, when OneSoccer couldn’t get carriage on the major cable systems, except for Telus, it meant lower potential sponsorship revenue for Canadian Soccer Business – and Canada Soccer itself, which, despite reports to the contrary, still owns the rights to several categories of commercial sponsorships. Canada’s broadcast system was built to protect Canadian companies – and those who work for and with them – from foreign competition. For decades, it enabled Canadian voices to be heard, to not be drowned out in our own home by the cacophony from the other side of our southern border. But it also meant that private gatekeepers were able to dictate what Canadians could or couldn’t watch. And while the streaming revolution has helped to disrupt that order, the system still favours incumbents. Canadians shouldn’t have had to wait for a foreign company to show us what we were missing on our own soccer pitch. Still, having seen the possibilities, it would be nice to think Canadian broadcasters might be able to take it from here. Likely paywalled.16 points

His crossing ability has improved tremendously. He’s always had the speed to beat his man down the wing but his end product has lacked. That goes with finishing as well. It looks like he’s improved both.15 points

Next CanMNT manager (Herdman to TFC)
Canuckia and 13 others reacted to toontownman for a topic
On the upside, if you take KJ for his word, no reason not to. The search is absolutely in full flow. If they are considering coaches from across the world it would seem crazy to settle with Biello. Hoping for an announcement and movement by mid May. Likely after most leagues have finished. I don't subscribe to the notion that a new coach will be disruptive and we should wait longer beyond the Copa. New philosophy is going to be potentially disruptive whenever the appointment happens. The impact of a new coach can only be a positive to get players stepping up their game to impress imo.14 points -

I am not sure who else has been following, but the team is going directly to relegation. And then, in recent weeks, he has not been playing that much, he has been on the bench quite a bit. I am not sure we are talking about a guy at a higher level than Zator or Kennedy as we sit.14 points -

Noone here watched? He was great actually. We had it on delay here and I just caught it. Played left back to left wing. Had 3 shots, one from near the penalty spot was blocked by teammate Arnautovic, Tajon was peeved as it looked like a winner. Another he was at the top of the box on a corner, faked right, shot left, went to corner. A third was a low cross that the keeper stopped. Also defended very tenaciously and was applauded by the Inter fans. He looked extremely fast and his off the ball movements were excellent. Comparing to Davies, the latter seems like he hasn't been coached at all at Bayern, only for defensive tasks. As a couple guys are sanctioned for next week vs Calgiari, he might merit a start.14 points -
With this talk of homegrown coaches it is interesting that the best product of the Canadian coaching landscape is a Frenchman, Wilfried Nancy. What a great story he is for Canadian soccer -- played university ball, coached amateur level in Quebec, coached their provincial team, part of the Impact academy, made it to MLS with Impact then Crew, now an MLS champion and possible CCL champion. If there was one guy who was 'perfect' for the CanMNT job, it's him.13 points

If I am Bair I am going for the biggest paycheck - wherever it is. He isn’t clearly destined for the big time and is already 24. As noted above it looks like he is making around $50-$60,000 CAD per year. He needs to get paid as much as he can as soon as he can. It is easy for us to map out a solid developmental career path but he’s got bills to pay. Grab whatever cash you can man.13 points -

Trois Reds and 11 others reacted to red card for a topic
Noonan interviewed on Ottawa's TSN 1200 Corner Kicks show, Station also carry ATO matches. He say CPL is most stable financially it has ever been. Looking to broaden broadcast distribution. Foundation built is really solid. Now looking to build rest of the house in next 10-15 years. More expansion would have happened if willing to play in smallish stadiums with stitched in gridiron lines. 16-20 team league in a decade is the goal. Mentioned Quebec City, other areas of GTA, Saskatoon & Regina & want to be back in Edmonton. CSB is building out Canada's football echo system rather than just being Canada Soccer's commercial rights arm. Build out L1 from 40 teams in 2019 to almost 200. Challenge with Canada Soccer is consistency of leadership as he's on his third GS in 18 months. Next 2 years are incredibly important for soccer in Canada. Need to get our house in order together. Canada needs to come together. Canada needs to be unified. Canada needs to be aligned. If we're ever to become a soccer country everyone wants us to be. https://www.tsn.ca/radio/ottawa-1200/cpl-commissioner-mark-noonan-looking-ahead-to-the-new-season-1.210127712 points
