Germany hit the post, hit the crossbar and had another shot blocked and deflected off the crossbar.

Also, the Zambia coach is accused of some pretty rotten behaviour:

The fact something this this seems to be still so prevalent in women's football saddens and angers me at the same time.

After weeks of being in camp, Selección Argentina was released today.

9 play in the professional domestic league Campeonato de Fútbol Femenino. 5 are in Brasileiro Women, 3 in Liga F and then 1 each in Chile/LigaMX/NWSL/Serie A/NCAA/Unattached.

They appear to be one of the last countries to be arriving in New Zealand as they're scheduled to play Peru in Buenos Aires on 14 July.

Germany will be without Bayern's Carolin Simon due to a cruciate ligament rupture sustained against Zambia.

Only 3 play outside of Frauen Bundesliga with 2 at Chelsea and 1 at Lyon. Wolfsburg with 10 and Frankfurt with 5 have the largest blocks in the squad, followed by Bayern with 4 and Hoffenheim with 1.

Germany has no more friendlies scheduled but were involved in 2 surprising scorelines with a 2-1 win over Vietnam last Saturday and a 3-2 loss to Zambia this week. They'll leave for Australia on 11 July.

Philippines enter football's world stage for the first time. Led by former Matildas World Cup manager Alen Stanjcic, the squad reflects the country's diaspora. Canadian-born Jackie Sawicki plays midfield.

4 play in A-League, 3 each in Philippines/Australian lower leagues, 2 each in Damallsvenskan/Iceland/Norway/NCAA/US Youth and 1 each in Bundesliga/Brasileiro/Serbia.

The team has been training in Sydney for a couple of weeks and will head to Auckland tomorrow.

No Desiree Scott hurts. :(

Also, Jade Rose. And, obviously, Beckie.

But all in all, it could have been worse as far as injuries. Several players are recently back from extended time off due to injuries.

Atlas Lionessses shared their World Cup squad list as the deadline was yesterday.

9 players come from Botola, Morocco's top flight. 6 play in France with 2 in D1. 2 each in Belgium/Spain. 1 each in Switzerland/Saudi Arabia/Serie A/WSL.

Unofficially, the last nation to disclose their squad is Haiti as it was first disclosed via FIFA as the deadline passed.

14 play in France with 4 in D1. 7 play in the USA with 4 in NCAA. 1 plays with Zenit in Russia and 1 plays in Haiti. The potential of having a Canadian-based player in the World Cup is dashed as the Ottawa Gee-Gees player who was on the inter-continental playoffs squad didn't make the cut.

Haiti seems to really be struggling to recover after the disasters it faced a few years ago.  Crime and anarchy are rampant.  It would be good for this team to do well and give Haitians something to be proud of in these times.

The Haitian media was reporting that she was cut due to cut due to documentation issues.

Did she have trouble getting a Haitian Passport? Not sure.

They were training for the longest time with only 2 keepers because she wasn't in the squad.

TSN announced their World Cup broadcast team. Down under will be Lindsay Hamilton as host, Rustad & Moscato as analysts, Wileman for PxP (likely just for Canada) and Claire Hanna as reporter.

In Toronto or remote, we'll see Laura Diakun & Raegan Subban as hosts, Walsh & McLeod as anaysts, Marissa Roberto as social media reporter and Beckie as special contributor. Solid group and slightly more diverse voices than 2019. But Subban will need to improve from her u17 World Cup hosting performance of last year. And continued skimpy representation of football from the other 31 nations.

Nightly preview shows next Monday to Wednesday. CTV will show only 8 matches.

Main sponsors are BMO, Visa. adidas, FritoLay & CIBC. Only Visa/CIBC are Canada Soccer sponsors. Visa is also only one of two FIFA Women's Football Partners (other is Kiwi tech firm Xero). BMO is the official partner of WWC 23 for North America.

Other Canada Soccer sponsors may have bought lower tier ad packages. Adidas, Coca-Cola, the Wanda Group and Hyundai/Kia are FIFA's tier 1 partners.

Great breakdown, thanks so much.

Since the player boycott of the Spain coach is partially intact, there are a few Barça players more who would likely have been called, especially defender Mapi Leon, Sandra Paños and Patri Guijarro who was MVP of the Champions League final. Fair enough, we brought in Bronze and Walsh this year.

BTW, typical me--- if you are going to abbreviate the club name, it has to be with a "ç", if you write a "c" you say "Barka". It'd even be more accurate to write "Barsa". As it's short for the city name, the "ce" in the name is always sounded "se".

Isn't it, as the wankers like to say, "Bar-tha"? 😄
