With the draft ongoing and a decent number of Canadians being selected, I wonder if we see the day an American MLS team loans a Canadian to the CPL soon. Is that something that's permitted? I understand it's likely that USL would be the loan destination, but if a CPL team would have to play young Canadian's would guarantee your prospect minutes, surely that should be in consideration no?

There are a couple Sigma connections.  Both Dos Santos & Triantafillou could very well end up at Forge if one or both do not end up getting drafted.

That's the lot by the looks of it, although there are a ton of picks seemingly missing, maybe those at the bottom made it in.

Good luck and hopefully see you in the MLS!

  • Tani Oluwaseyi -> Minnesota #17 overall
  • O’Vonte Mullings -> RBNY #20 overall
  • Mohamed Omar -> Colorado #23 overall
  • Luka Gavran -> TFC #31 overall
  • Nathan Dos Santos -> Orlando #46 overall
  • Reshaun Walkes -> TFC #59 overall

Preston Popp, Charles August and Simon Triantafillou maybe heading to the CPL.

Nice six players have been picked. We would love for all six to be major hits in MLS. However, if 2-3 of them can make impact the next few years that would be awesome. Omar, Mullings, and Gavran to me are most interesting players drafted this year. I'm hoping all six are given a real chance to prove their worth.

My road still isn't plowed after the insane snowstorm in the Golden Horseshoe, so I have far too much time on my hands today. USPORTS draft is tomorrow, so how about a little mock draft:

1.1 Atletico Ottawa - Dario Conte, Midfielder, Carleton University (A bit older and more likely to step into the first team lineup, should be familiar in the Ottawa local scene)
1.2 FC Edmonton - Gabriel Bitar, Forward, Carelton University (without Ongaro, Edmonton is going to need goalscoring and it worked out last time they scooped up a Cavalry reject)
1.3 HFX Wanderers - Raphael Garcia, Rightback, Carleton University (Young with CPL experience, fills the hole left by Morey Doner)
1.4 Valour FC - Luca Ricci, Midfielder, Univesity of Montreal (Quebecer who spent time with the Fury, kinda like their coach/GM, former USL/NASL experience)
1.5 York United - Mohamed El Gandour, Striker, Mount Royal University  (Canada West player of the year, should be familiar with Martin Nash from his 2019 selection by Cavalry)
1.6 Cavalry FC - Dane Domic, Forward, Mount Royal University (Should be familiar in Calgary, Cavalry has never been a juggernaut offensively and could use a diamond in the rough up top)
1.7 Forge FC - Soji Olatoye, Winger, York University (Sigma Product who has trialled at Forge. Winger Depth could be a need if Borges doesn't return and Babouli is gone)
1.8 Pacific FC - Jadon Vilfort, Centreback, York University (played with Dixon/TMG at Fury)

2.1 Atletico Ottawa - Gabriel Balbinotti, Forward, UQTR (Ottleti was still near the bottom of the table in GF last year, and Balbinotti, a standout in USPORTS/PLSQ has formerly played in the Ottawa area)
2.2 FC Edmonton - Eryk Kobza, Midfielder, University of Calgary (Played in province for the Dinos & Koch's time at Whitecaps2 slightly overlapped Koza in Residency, only 20 years old and spent time in the Polish 3rd division)
2.3 HFX Wanderers - Emmanuel Dolo, Winger, Memorial University (Top offensive talent in AUS, HFX has 3 attackers departing in Riggi, Karajovanovic, Camara)
2.4 Valour FC - Christopher Campoli, Midfielder, UOIT (Never got a chance at York, but had another huge season at UOIT as third leading scorer in OUA)
2.5 York United - Svyatoslav Artemenko, Goalkeeper, Guelph University (Ingham is likely to walk, so York has a GK opening to fill behind Niko)
2.6 Cavalry FC - Markus Kaiser, Midfielder, UBC (Brother played for Cavalry, he previously trialled)
2.7 Forge FC - Jose Da Cunha, Centreback, Cape Breton University (Forge selected him last year and CB depth is still an issue, and he went on to make the AUS All-Rookie selection)
2.8 Pacific FC - Christian Rossi, Forward, Trinity Western University (Pacific has always believed in the youth movement and trusted BC products, this Canada West Rookie of the Year fits the script)

Gonna go with a quick mock draft

1.1 Atletico Ottawa - Jose da Cunha - They will bring players from abroad for offensive positions so need help at the back

1.2 FC Edmonton - Gabriel Bitar - With the turmoil and no players announced they need help everywhere so have to take the highest value player off the board

1.3 HFX Wanderers - Kairo Coore - High quality offensive player playing in the Maritimes at CBU, also played NCAA ball and is a U21 and HFX needs U21's badly as they only have Baskett

1.4 Valour FC - Soji Olatoye - Speedy, tricky, highly rated winger and we saw what that can do for Valour with Akio

1.5 York United - Svyatoslav Artemenko - Ingham is gone and is Giantsopoulos really a number 1? A real shot for Artemenko to win playing time this time around

1.6 Cavalry FC - Jamie Watson - With Farsi gone they need help at right back. Can Watson be an option with experience in Scottish League One?

1.7 Forge FC - Mohamed El Gandour - Striker who did very well last season and got drafted once. With Babouli gone and the status of other strikers unclear he could be interesting

1.8 Pacific FC - Christian Rossi - With a few offensive players gone, Pacific could turn to the USports rookie of the year from Trinity Western

2.1 Atletico Ottawa - Carson Debison-Larabie - Highly rated U21 midfielder with roots in the Ottawa region

2.2 FC Edmonton - Eryk Kobza - Playing in Alberta, played in the Polish third division and again Edmonton need help everywhere

1.3 HFX Wanderers - Doryan Soualem - Center back which HFX absolutely need. Did well with Laval in his first year and played with the second team of Rodez in France

1.4 Valour FC - Christopher Campoli - Strong, high scoring U21 midfielder at Ontario Tech

1.5 York United - Luca Ricci - Midfielder with pro experience. York's squad is almost full but maybe he can come in and fight for the last spot. Their central midfield is a question mark

1.6 Cavalry FC - Dane Domic - 23 year old midfielder born in Calgary who has put up good numbers at MRU. Played in academies in Europe and even made a website for himself. Its now or never Dane

1.7 Forge FC - Quentin Paumier - Midfielder who did well with Montreal and Forge hit the jackpot with Metusala who also came from Quebec so they must have an eye there

1.8 Pacific FC - Jadon Vilfort - With MacNaughton apparently leaving can he step in and at least be a quality backup center back?

Didn't realize CPL Draft was last week. And I find out that none of my Ravens players selected? Mock drafts had at least 5 Ravens going to be selected. That's a shock. Ravens were Finalist in the National Championship.

The Charlatan: Carleton left stunned as zero players selected in Canadian Premier League draft.

For the record my alumni is Carleton Ravens.
