It was clearly his only real option. And Borjan was looking right at him. 

Borjan started backing up, not because he wasn't expecting it but because he always does to get a run at the ball. And then instead of following through the ball, he tried to be cute.

Ill need to re watch it, initially I thought he could have switched it or cleared it diagonally, only 1 guy pressing that entire back line, but he took an extra touch and a softish back pass from inside of foot on a half volley. 

Regardless 100% agree no denying Borjan shouldn't be cute and charge that ball.
