dyslexic nam
The number of quality kids that aren't in our system seems surprising to someone like me. I suspect it is a matter of resources, but for guys like this - and some of the other recent "finds" - it seems like the CSA should be aggressively recruiting and giving them the sales pitch of getting on board (especially at this time which has big opportunities on the horizon). Unnamed Trialist
From what I can see he was playing with the u-19 first team of Leganés last season, which is good for a 17 year old. He is no longer with them. Perhaps he could say where he is playing this year. He is not on the Leganés roster any more.

David was playing in Ottawa when he got his first call. Millar, Busti and ZBG play for some of biggest clubs in world. Calling them is a must! The CSA would be totally blind and dumb if they didn’t. Obviously if he is good enough we should call him up, but simply playing in Spain doesn't make him good.

Also look at the the last two U17 teams, basically all NA based players, maybe one or two European based players. If a European team is taking a chance on a Canadian player, they must have some talent.
Keegan
It is true that we don’t play enough to evaluate players. When you don’t play enough games you stick with what you know and that is players who are local. The exceptions have been at big clubs or were guys who were known before heading overseas. For example, if Perruzza didn’t come back to TFC II it’s tough to see him getting a u20 call while with Empoli. Its a resource problem. Of course coaches will pick from players they can watch 20+ games a year... most of us would probably do the same.

So you're changing your main thesis from "The CSA doesn't know about players outside of North America" to "The CSA should play non-North American players regardless of skill level or competition at the same position"? Interesting strategy. By the way, every single one of those players was called into a camp in the lead up to major tournament at least once. And the ones that were with TFC were called in while they were in Europe. Give it up, man. The data doesn't support your bias.

Well we haven’t qualified for youth World Cup in a while, also the last U17 team couldn’t even make it out the group and lost against CUBA! So if NA based players are not getting it done, maybe it’s time to change it up. Also we are losing European based players to other nations. Players are saying haven’t been contacted by the CSA, Cristante brother ( if it was really him ) said if the CSA called Bryan sooner, we would have a better chance of getting him and other players.
