Canadian Eligible Prospect / Youngster Rankings

Since there has been discussion about a prospect ranking on a different topic I thought I would post my own rankings.

I separate them by each age group due to the difficulty in comparing players across several age groups.

I update them whenever I can and post them publicly around once a month, usually on Twitter.

If there is ANY player that you think should be added please name them. Especially in the League 1 Canada system.

Kai-Jupa Williams is most likely no longer with Sparta Prague.  He is not listed on their website anymore, and he is not listed on the Czech FA player database.

Looks like that image got doubled and the actual 1-20 is missing. It starts at 21.

I saw your recent twitter thread with those rankings a few days ago- great work man.

If I had to make a top 10 list and limit to to players say, under 21 and under ~10 national team caps, here's what my rankings look like:

2. Dan Jebbison

3. Luc De Fougerolles

4. Dieu Merci Michel

Mix of current level, performance & potential, also pretty rough; I'm sure I'm missing someone in there. Not considering Koleosho and Jesse Costa since they look closer to other national teams and only considering Jebbison because I have more faith he'll play for us than the other guys. Feel free to critique/post your own.

Think anyone with more than 5 caps isn't really in the spirit of something like this but may just be me. Corbeanu for example feels like he's much closer to a staple of the program going forward then a prospect even though he's still young and Kone as well. While Nelson (who's at exactly 5 caps) seems to be on track but isn't a sure thing.

That's absolutely fair. I thought about cutting it off at 5 caps, but I still consider Corbeanu a prospect because he hasn't broken into his main club's team yet and he's not a player you assume will get called into the national team at any time, but my cut off was more or less "players who are less developed than Kone". I do consider Nelson a prospect in any case though. If we were to take Corbeanu out though, I'd also probably take Jebbison out too, since he has similar professional experience too and if he'd have committed to us already, he'd probably have several caps under his belt already.

I’m pretty sure I had seen somewhere that DeGuzman actually isn’t very good, could be wrong. Initially I had heard the opposite.

Ive never seen him play but being in PSV's academy and call ups to u16 netherlands suggest hes certainly at a higher level than most other canadians his age.

Oh forsure, however I do believe the Netherlands turn over many stones at that age group

He is now with Motorlet Praha U16.  They play in a U17 league though.
