  1. Great points. However, I’m of the opinion that fans love goals too much. if tani scores against Panama does he start over Latin against an argentina? Doubtful because scoring against a better opposition is much harder and the team structure will likely suffer when replacing Larin. what about the time lapse between cmnt goals. If Tani scores in 3 cmnt games but then is benched for every club game for 2 months, does he get the start for Canada because of what he did 2 months ago? You hear coaches and players talk about how much value a guy like Laron has regardless of his scoring. Giroud doesn’t even get shots for France but the squad was better with him on the field. I see both sides and personally would rather start David as a lone 9. I just think lots of us fans are quick to write off the massive leap in quality it takes to go from scoring in mls/ Belgium to la liga. Instead we look at goals and say he scored against Portland and Larin didn’t score against Barca. Tani should start….
  2. I get your point but your examples aren’t quite fair. Bair was in Scotland for 2.5 years. Promise had a Belgian team gamble on him and he is yet to prove anything. Kulenovic is doing well but it’s still early. in order to displace cmnt all time leader in goals who’s scoring in la liga, we need someone who is near that level and in form. Larin will likely be in la liga until after 2026 so to displace him we cannot rely on players riding the bench at a much lower level. so basically we need one of our fringe guys who are currently on the bench to somehow earn a move to a higher level at the end of this year and then produce right away in the second year. That’s a tall order. Sure, if tani scores 30 goals in the mls next season, he has an argument but it’s more likely larin is in laliga compared to tani scoring 30.
  3. I’m not sure if a couple of posts on this forum proves anything either way. it will for sure take some time but it’s not like our other options are playing 90s every week either. I guess I just feel this weird measuring stick against Jebbison. Same thing we did to Bombito. “he’s only had half a year being pro” If there’s talent, then we need to consider talent. Jrr/tani -mls subs. Jebbison-prem minutes and now a championship sub. that’s a very close debate at the very least. Even considering Jebbison has been injured. its plausible he (if willing) comes in and scores for Canada and then all of the sudden he’s our 3rd string option. So I wouldn’t say he’s “way down” by any means.
  4. Why would he be way down.promise Bair, ugbo brym tani jrr are not starters. Other than the mls guys, no ones scoring much. But the mos guys play a lower level and have an entire season worth of matches compared to like 5 for Jebbo. who’s clearly above him other than Latin and David.
  5. I didn’t mean to imply that you pick Lopez over him. My bad. I think we agree on our selection process logic. I think we probably end up picking strikers based on profile in the near future. David and larin are locks. The best level/form of our 3rd string. A big boy for 4th choice to win headers as a last resort.
  6. So now we all agree that Larin is our best striker not named David…… just kidding It’s strange that one goal can sway opinions so much.
  7. All great points. IMO guys should stick to their club if they have games. I doubt Jebbo comes but why would you pick Lopez over him. Lopez has zero pro goals ever, zero pro minutes this year, 9 pro minutes total. There’s no way that Lopez is anywhere near a guy (who has been out an entire year with injuries) who has been playing in the prem and championship this year and is only 2 years older. Liga Mx <prem/championship. also your count is wrong. He was injured last year but scored in the championship the year prior. 1 year with no goals in a year he didn’t play. this is my point about this silly measuring stick. Jebbo is criticized for a year long injury but we praise Lopez for having zero pro goals, zero u23 goals, zero u20 goals (club) and what…9 pro minutes. I just don’t see how anyone could objectively think Lopez is within touching distance of jebbison
  8. I’d imagine we try to get more duals in the camp: Jebbo Lopez and poku both have been mentioned by marsch Kulenovic and promise are at decent levels and duals I expect at least one of them jkl - best uncapped defender stroud bros? pos? (Not sure they are quality tho) ivensevic (or however you spell the guy in Croatia) Goodman - dual.
  9. Is merit based on form, talent, minutes or playing style. I think jebbison is our 3 most talented striker. he has a severe lack of minutes. But jrr, bair, promise, brym, ugbo, Tani, and Kulenovic are not 100% starters either. considering form: does 1 goal count as form or is there a need for consistency and bigger sample size. Only jrr makes a case for consistently scoring. The way I see it is that lots of people look at Jebbo and say he has to earn his way on the squad and needs to be scoring consistently to get there. But that’s not the standard of our 4th string striker. No one is clearly meeting the measuring stick some people hold to Jebbo so if it’s relatively even, you select the most talented player which jebbo is top 4. stats: -more minutes played than bair and Kulenovic. -Similar minutes per game to Tani and jrr and he’s still recovering from a year out.
  10. Extremely unlikely. There isn’t a single 99 pace cb in 24 at the end of the game. No chance they give any cb 99 pace prior to futties and then it’s a biiig if that Bombito gets a future card. Even if he did, it would be less than a month of using him. You can use st juste As a comparison card
  11. I don’t understand this. 10’s are historically one way players. What’s wrong with them becoming more complete. KDB, Odegaard or b silva are extremely creative but play 2 ways. It allows them to contribute to build up play instead of just in the final third. reijnders is a perfect example. He’s more of a creative 8 than a 10. He often is playing box to box. Yes he also plays as a 10 but positionally hes more modric than ozil
  12. I think the issue is player profile. RM didn’t play with a 10. Kroos modric and casemiro. But a 6 and 2 creative 8’s sigur is our answer to no 10 if he becomes elite. maybe saliba could develop into our 6. not sure about where choiniere fits unless Kone plays 10 and saw 6
  13. I like 4atb but had some big debates on here that our squad suited 3 atb. Aj can def play rcb but he’s worse at it than rb. it’s hard to argue Kone and staq would improve immensely in a 3 man midfield when we haven’t really seen it and there’s an argument to be made that David plays incredibly well defensively. Again I’ve argued fiercely that a 3rd cm could see them become elite but I say marginally until it’s proven. I also think our attacking identity was really transition based before. We didn’t have any solutions for low blocks. Similar to now.
  14. Theoretically a 3-5-2 swaps shaf/millar for a cm oso/choiniere/sigur. hard to say if that’s better, worse or equal. Players put in a 3-5-2 vs 4-2-2-2: bombito Cornelius Larin and David are probably equal. Aj is worse at cb staq choiniere and Kone are marginally better because of a 3rd cm. In a 4-3-3 they are equal Davies and Buchanan are better From a player profile, formation is not as big of a difference as what I used to think. I think our offense clicks more in a 3-5-2 but our defensive press would suffer. I’m not sure what to think anymore.
  15. I’m with you. If var is for clear and obvious error, I’m all for it. var tells ref, his stud was knee height and ball was 17 meters away. Go back and card him. but this tedious minuscule errors ruins the joy
