According to someone who knows Italian soccer well, Paolo has not been signed officially by Vicenza. If he does sign, it might have to wait until January.

One of the founding members of SAAC (Soccer Academy Alliance Canada) has great news about one of the brightest talents in the Ontario academy system.

ANB ACADEMY FUTBOL PLAYER JASON MILLS IDENTIFIED BY CAEN FOOTBALL CLUB FORMATION CENTRE.

November 16, 2009

The ANB Academy is pleased to announce that 16-year old Academy Team member Jason Mills was successfully identified by Caen Football club in the French league.

Jason just returned from a week try-out with the U-17 program and the U-19 program of the club’s formation centre. He is to travel back to France in March 2010 for one month for further training with the Formation Centre. Then he will be invited 3 times per year until his 18th birthday before he can officially be signed with the club

According to FIFA’s latest regulations on the status and transfer of players, a minor is not allowed to sign for a foreign club before the age of 18.

“If Jason was a French citizen, he would have been signed to our Formation Centre today. From what we have seen, he has all the technical abilities needed, but as per FIFA’s regulation on player’s transfer, he will be invited to France on many occasions until his 18th birthday” said Sebastien Bannier, Caen‘s Formation Centre Director.

“Jason has been an ANB Academy Team member since the Academy’s inception back in October 2005. This is just fantastic to everyone! We are ecstatic and proud of Jason. He will be our new ambassador to the elite of the elites in France. The ANB Academy is presently in the final stages of discussions about a partnership between Caen Football Club and The ANB Academy” commented Academy Director, Bassam Naim.

For more information on this and other academy programs, visit our website at www.anbfutbol.com or contact Bassam Naim (Academy Director) by telephone at 905-313-8661, e-mail at bassam@anbfutbol.com

Jordan Webb to Sengkang (Singapore)

Jordan Webb (also formerly of Toronto Lynx PDL and who played some games for Italia Shooters in CSL) has signed a contract with Sengkang Pungol and will be a teammate of fellow Canadian Murphy Wiredu. Apparently, Murphy will be re-signing with Sengkang for the 2010 season after a successful rookie season.

Did Haber not sign with West Brom? Or did he not take the contract offered him? I'd certainly want to be training now with the likes of West Brom Reserves rather than with the White Caps who are in no real training mode at this time of the year. Not sure if I missed some announcement.

The Whitecaps have an option for next season on Haber so the deal will have to involve a transfer fee, and therefore cannot be completed until the winter window opens.

http://communities.canada.com/theprovince/blogs/backofthenet/archive/2009/11/27/haber-offered-a-contract-with-west-brom.aspx

"The Whitecaps have offered Haber a new deal but also have an option on his previous deal, meaning West Brom will have to buy him from the Caps. The Whitecaps, who jump to Major League Soccer in 2011, have said they won't stand in Haber's way if he wants to give Europe another go, but they will want to get a decent transfer fee for such a promising young talent."

Ipswich midfielder Jaime Peters has signed a new contract to keep him at Portman Road until 2013.

Peters' previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season and the club have moved to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

The 22-year-old came to Portman Road in 2005 and the Canada international is delighted to have extended his stay.

"It's a nice Christmas present and I'm obviously very pleased to be given the chance to stay," Peters told the club's official website.

"I've had my ups and downs here but Ipswich is a great club and I'm pleased with the way things have gone for me this season in terms of being involved with the first team.

"I think I have progressed as a player this season and I'm enjoying playing under the manager."
