Mods, can we sticky this and let the other float away. Thanks.

Outstanding issues:

Dave Anthony Simpson - where are you man?

Octavio - has he signed in Holland?

Rob Sing - is he still in Switzerland?

Paris Nakajima Farran - is he actually eligible for Canada?

Junior - is he in Germany or England?

David Masciantonio - what's the verdict?

No and I'm too lazy to find the link but I think there is one out there that says he is no longer in Switzerland or I wouldn't have taken him off my list. I think he was last with Sapperton Rovers (VMSL) but I could be wrong :)

Ed has been following him and he seems to be getting non competitive games above the youth level team.

David (Junior) Hoillet - SC Paderborn 07 II (German Verbandsliga Westfalen 1) (5) on loan from Blackburn (English Premier League) (1) Youth

Ali Gerba is confirmed

Ali Gerba - FC Ingolstadt 04 (German Regionalliga Sud) (3)

Besides Markus Karl, FC 04 Ingolstadt have another Neuverpflichtung to announce. The Canadian National Striker Ali Gerba (born 04.09.1981) is also after the winter break part of the Regionalligakaders. Gerba changes from the Swedish soccer champions IFK Gothenburg to Ingolstadt.

Alex Elliott, striker with our U20's, is on trial at Riley O'Neill's club in Germany, SV Wilhelmshaven:

(from svwilhelmhshaven.de:

Neben dem Argentinier Hernan Lillo trainiert der kanadische U-20-Nationalspieler Alex Elliott (Stürmer) beim Oberligisten mit. Beide sollen auch mit ins Trainingslager fliegen.

translation:

Along with Argentinian Hernan Lillo, the Cdn U20 national team striker Alex Elliott is also training with the Oberliga team. Both should be flying to the training camp (in Mallorca - ed).

David Masciantonio - what's the verdict?

He actually re-signed with his existing club, Benevento until 2009.

http://tuttomercatoweb.com/index.php?action=read&id=87994

He even played this weekend for them, which has been a rarity. It was a good move to re-sign if he gets playing time, as Benevento seems destined for promotion.

Date of Birth: October 6, 1990

Position: left or right attacking midfield

Height: 5' 9"

Here's a story I found on OffthePitch.ca. It looks like a young man from Oakville is signing with Benfica. Not sure if its a pro contract but impressive regardless.

CSA, if you're listening, let's not lose another player to Portugal. Keep tabs on this young man.

Eurostar Goalkeeper moves to Europe.

------------------------------------

It was a surprise phone call to Eurostar Director John Moreira by its new Technical Director Nuno Santos on Thursday January 3rd that would change a Eurostar student’s life for the better.

As the call came in Nuno asked how quickly 16 year old Oakville native Marcel Debellis could be in Portugal, Marcel had no clue what was in store for him. Marcel and his dad reported on Sunday morning. By Monday Marcel was training with Vitoria Setubals Academy Program south of Lisbon, former Club of Jose Mourinho. His debut was so impressive they wanted to sign the 16 yr old. Things would not be that easy as the intention of the invitation to Portugal would be a shot at 1 division giant SL Benfica Development program. A trial with benfica 15/16 squad would prove to have such an impact that the Youth squad 17/18 would have Marcel come to train with both programs in the morning and evening.

Marcel would stay the remainder of the week at the Benfica state of the art 45 million euro training complex to bond with players to settle him in. What an impact this young man made that he has been invited to return on January 29th 2008 for the remainder of the season to train and live at Benfica’s training grounds and receive his education.

Marcel has been training with Eurostar Goalkeeper Academy under the direction of John Moreira for the past 3 years till present and, recently with Nuno Santos former Benfica Goalkeeper. In his quest for success Marcel has been part of Erin Mills Soccer Club since 2004 playing for Coach Moreira in 2005 winning the Ontario Cup Gold and National Gold in Moncton New Brunswick. Marcel has played as a call up for the older teams at his youth Club and is part of their ADP Program.

“We want to congratulate Marcel on his success, we believe this is just the beginning for this young man who we always knew he would make it in some capacity” said John Moreira of Eurostar. “The young man has all the qualities at 6”3 he has a presence in the box and has great hands and is extremely athletic for his size and also a great kid”.” He has made all of us proud here at ESGA and our entire family wishes Marcel well”. This is one of the reasons we brought in Nuno Santos and it is because of him we made this happen”.” I guess dreams really do come true”. Saturday January 12th two U14 boy’s head off to Portugal to train with Academy programs for two weeks.

It has been a pleasure working with Marcel and we will keep in touch. Thanks to everyone who played a part in Marcel’s development.

Kenny Stamatopoulos and Stephen Ademolu are still part of the Tromsø squad:

http://www.til.no/www/laget/spillerstall_2007

This article (http://fotball.itromso.no/eliteserien/article97238.ece) which speculated that Ademolu may be on his way to Trelleborg, mentions right at the end that Kenny would be back with Tromsø when they started their pre-season last week. No news on him since.

  • 2 weeks later...

Salt Lake apparently waived Jack Stewart way back in September and he is currently unattached.

Here is an article from October mentioning his situation, which hasn't changed since then according to any of the info I could find.

http://njmg.typepad.com/sbi/2007/10/jack-stewart-co.html

Come to think of it, I'm kinda suprised he hasn't resurfaced at the Canadian C camp or in TFC rumours- oh no, that's right they don't have to worry about fielding "Canadians" at TFC anymore, do they?

Adrian Cann's name is also in the Esbjerg press release.

That's the translation I got for the paragraph mentionning Cann:

Canadieren has amid the hesitation to Esbjerg , where he has had corporation from forsvarsspilleren Adrian Cann , as early as indicated themselves that a obviously , out-turned and abject human , there's grateful for that be permitted to try that make use of EfB that springbræt to a bigger european club.

Tough to say why his name is there, maybe they'll bring him on trial.

BTW, Esbjerg are 8th in the Danish Superliga and out of relegation trouble.
