Opare has Canadian citizenship and his family live in Canada but he's not eligible for the CanMNT because of years in Canada.  It's a strange quirk but the book is closed on him it seems.

Curious, what if he lands on a Canadian squad? Would that make a difference?

Contrast this with the Canadian connections held by the Arfields and the Birchams of the world. It's a shame but I think he's an extreme example of falling prey to a rule not designed with guys like him in mind but rather for the Brazilan rentals/temporary residents. Sucks for him even more that he'll never be good enough for the two countries he is eligible to play for, Ghana and the USA.

I guess the question is do his three or four years as a teen count or does he have to get to the five-year number solely as an adult? If it's the latter, then forget about it, especially as a guy who presents as a fringe MLS player at best.

not to hijack the thread but would you mind explaining this? Im confused as to why a guy who lived in Canada isn't qualified to play for us but a guy like arfield who never set foot in it is.

Simply because of fifa eligibility rules:

Any Player who ... [assumes] a new nationality and who has not played international football [in a match ... in an official competition of any category or any type of football for one Association] shall be eligible to play for the new representative team only if he fulfills one of the following conditions:
(a) He was born on the territory of the relevant Association;
(b) His biological mother or biological father was born on the territory of the relevant Association;
(c) His grandmother or grandfather was born on the territory of the relevant Association;
(d) He has lived continuously for at least five years after reaching the age of 18 on the territory of the relevant Association.

Opare assumed a new nationality so he needs to fulfill one of these conditions.

En España:

Piette played 90 as Izarra came back to beat Osasuna B 2-1, they are 11th but amazingly not free from relegation yet, with just a few games left, very tight division.

I'm hoping, with Osasuna going down to 2nd, that they sign Sam and he has a chance to play in 2nd next year.

Hume got some late minutes, like maybe 6, as Extremadura won 2-0 to stay in the fight to avoid relegation. First minutes for Hume in a while

Bakr did not play for Leganés B.

Miki Cantave started for Albacete B in 4th tier, he played 59 as they won.

Andrew Lebre played 53 for Ourense as they won handily, though he was on a card and they subbed him I think for that. They are in a position to promote into 4th tier, they're fifth now.

In the Chilean First Division, Diego Gutierrez played 5 minutes for Palestino in a 3-2 win against Cobresal. The match was already 3-2 by the time he played some minutes.

So is this his league debut for Palestino?

Tough 2016? This is a pretty big step down from  MLS and CCL, is it not?

Glad to see him doing well though. I've always liked his play. Transfermarkt seems to have him playing as a CF recently.

He played a total of under 400 minutes in MLS in 3 seasons. In his last season with the Caps he played 148 MLS minutes. It would be a big step down from MLS to 4th division if he was actually playing any significant minutes in MLS but given he was mostly playing USL with a bit of VCup and Champions League because Vancouver didn't take those competitions very seriously I think it was a step up. He should either get a shot with the first team at Dusseldorf or be in a position to transfer at least to the 3rd BL if he keeps performing like this.

In Germany,

Stanese played 45 minutes for Aalen in a 1-0 loss at Osnabrück. Don't know what happened there, wether he got injured or just performed badly.

Corbin-Omg put in another full shift, but FSV lost narrowly (2-3) at table-leaders MSV. They seem to be relegating, even apart from the financial troubles they're in.

in D4 Elva played 90 minutes, picked-up a yellow card but won with his side Stuttgart2 vs TSV Steinback (2-1).

On Friday, Randy Edwini-Bonsu saw the pitch after 65 minutes for Homburg. They drew at Worms (1-1).

As been mentioned, Froese scored another goal for Düsseldorf 2. They beat Sportfreunde Siegen 0-3, Froese played until the 85th minute. According to the article I posted recently, his position in LM ATM, which means he can cut inside and shoot with his preferred right foot.
