jpg75
I think the term "getting Tealed" needs to be introduced to the V's lexicon, much the same way Kingpin introduced the masses to "getting Munsoned". Getting Tealed: To pass up a solid, can't miss opportunity in hopes of delusional grandeur and fail miserably in the process. Joe would have surely gotten laid if he'd gone to prom with his girlfriend Dianne, but instead got Tealed when crazy hot Cindy Smenzer asked him to go and stood him up as a prank. jpg75
So it seems JDG2 got Tealed? Not yet, but he's on his way. Jacob Lensky however got Tealed in the worse way, but he seemingly doesn't care or else it would be tempting to call it getting Lenksyed (though that could also serve as meaning to lose your mind). "That doobie was so big, we all got Lenskyed out of our skulls." Alain Rochat is a textbook def'n of getting Tealed...Dani Fernandes is also a "getting Tealed" candidate, but he's sort of different, can't fault him too much. Except he is only 22 and it remains to be determined how his MLS and MNT career will progress. Plus with the poor year he has had so far I don't know that he had a can't miss opportunity with us because he would be at best a borderline WCQ call up for us if he were called at all. Grizzly
Interesting in relation to our situation with Teal, JDG2 and Hoilett is the American's problems with FC Nurnberg's Timothy Chandler who is willing to play for the US in friendlies but turned down call ups to the recent Gold Cup and now WCQ: http://www.usfutblog.com/2012-articles/may/klinsmann-announces-prelim-wcq-roster-chandler-turns-down-call-up.html One noticeable player has decided for now that he would not like to be a member of Klinsmann's "core" and instead would like to take a "break" from competition, which put the US soccer community into a frenzy yesterday. This infamous player would be Timothy Chandler. Chandler who was born in Germany to an American father has appeared in 8 matches for the US, but has yet to cap tie himself to the US by appearing in an official FIFA competition. This has left the door open for a possible switch to the German National Team. Despite repeated declarations from Chandler to the media that he has chosen to emblazon the stars and stripes and has no interest in Germany, his actions have spoken louder than his words recently. Dating back to last summer when former US manager Bob Bradley failed to recruit Chandler to the all important Gold Cup many fans have questioned Chandler's loyalty. Compounded by this most recent decision to not join Klinsmann and company for the start of World Cup Qualifiers, which would tie him to the US for life, fan paranoia has officially transformed into a bleak reality that does not include Chandler. Ivan
^ With the big difference of course being that Chandler has never stepped foot in the US other than to play soccer friendlies, while JDG2 & Junior were born and raised here (for 12-13 years at least) and Teal was at least actually born here. I think they are overstating it... Tactically, they've got depth in the RB position (Cherundolo, Spector, and Parkhurst) so he wouldn't be a big loss. Obinna
from mlssoccer.com: UPDATED U.S. ROSTER BY POSITION GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake) DEFENDERS (8): Carlos Bocanegra (Rangers), Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo), Edgar Castillo (Club Tijuana), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Alfredo Morales (Hertha Berlin), Oguchi Onyewu (Sporting Lisbon), Michael Parkhurst (Nordsjaelland) MIDFIELDERS (9): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Chievo Verona), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Jose Torres (Pachuca), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City) FORWARDS (7): Juan Agudelo (Chivas USA), Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), Terrence Boyd (Borussia Dortmund), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Herculez Gomez (Santos), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes) As we know, Chandler refused a call up in hopes of "getting Tealed" by Germany. Meanwhile, speaking of Teal, he is nowhere to be seen. His teamate Zusi instead was the only SKC player called into camp. Besides that, it is a typical A squad for the USA. Interesting that Tim Ream is getting snubbed after playing 90 minutes every game for Bolton since his move in winter. Also interesting that Zack Whitbread was not called in. He was a regular fixture at CB for Norwich this season.
