ThiKu
Fernandes would be an upgrade over the capable Cannon....if they can't get Hirsch back to Canada they defo need to look for upgrade in goal somewhere. Lensky trial surprising but also not. Wishing him the best, TBH.
forster01
What do WC fans know about Sam Adekugbe, an under 16 players who as already played with the reserves, seems impressive?
Lord Bob
Good-looking young left back. He's my vote for most-improved on the U-16 team: he's got good pace and is fairly tall for his age but hasn't got much aggression or physicality. Loves to cross the ball and tries to beat opposing midfielders on the dribble: easy enough at this level but he's gotten himself into trouble in the past so we'll see how he adjusts. youllneverwalkalone
Speaking of Canadian fullbacks, Bobby Jhutty played for the VWFC Reserves in a 3-0 loss to Portland. He's been playing at Douglas College since leaving the residency. He was joined by Reynaldo Stewart (Doulgas), James Farenhorst (TWU) and an extremely out-of-shape Jacob Lensky. Alderson and Teibert went 90.
masster
Usually the bench spots in these reserve games are filled by residency players. With both the U18s and U16s involved in league action this weekend in California, the guys listed above may just have been fill ins. Alderson played for the U18s yesterday and flew back to Vancouver for this game.
youllneverwalkalone
Though in the match report, they had the single asterix for "PDL player", instead of the double asterix for trialist -which applied to Lensky.
Lord Bob
Given the precise term "PDL player" rather than "Residency player", possibly they're bringing in some U-23s to a squad that was mostly U-18 last year? Or possibly they're just three guys they needed to be warm bodies and they didn't care that much about the terminology.
Lord Bob
Residency striker Caleb Clarke signed today to a homegrown contract as Vancouver's fourth Canadian and twenty-ninth senior squad player (which will be thirty when Robson arrives).
ThiKu
Excellent signing but when, again, are these attacking/MF kids going to play?? Too many vets ahead of them (based on the lack of appearances this year for Teibert and Alderson). ??? And Barbara hasn't even gotten fit yet.... youllneverwalkalone
Clarke will probably play PDL and reserves for the balance of the season. I do think Rennie will clean out some of the log jam at forward: The only players who've impressed are LeToux and Camilo. Salgado is on the wing, and Tan and Hassli could be moving on by this time next year. Generally speaking, we need to be careful with our expectations. There are very few 18 year olds who can excel at a high second tier/ low first tier level. IMO, MLS is moving up the ladder quite quicky and I don't think we need to constantly bemoan the lack of playing time for these teenagers. Perhaps a better question is what will be the long-term impact on Henry & Morgan getting minutes on a thoroughly disorganized & directionless club? Is this good for player development? Soccerpro
Hopefully Rennie has a plan to gradually cull some of the current roster to get the Canadians some gradual playing time.
shermanator
Perhaps the Whitecaps will take a gradual approach to bringing in Residency players ala TFC?

ThiKu
@soccerpro: Rennie won't be focusing on nationality. He'll play whoever is the best option at the position. As he should - as much as this fan wishes every Whitecap was a Canuck.
